A total of INR 14.6 Crores has been disbursed to startups under startup support schemes out of which INR 1.30 Crores have been sanctioned to 13 Agri-focused startups in FY 23-24 by RKVY RAFTAAR RABI scheme

“Uttishtha 2024,” the 7th edition of the biggest agri start-up expo, has concluded with great fanfare after two days of talent, innovation, and creativity organised by the Foundation for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development [FIED] and E-Cell at IIM Kashipur. The event showcased several forward-thinking startups run by bright young people from all around the nation.

IIM Kashipur’s FIED-funded startups were Krushika Naturals Pvt. Ltd. 25 Lakhs, Himshilpi Hunar LLP 5 Lakhs, Zarin Gourmet Pvt Ltd 25 Lakhs, MyPahadiDukan 25 Lakhs, BABA Agrotech 20 Lakhs, SS Agriculture Innovations Pvt Ltd 5 Lakhs, and Svastha Samriddhi Pvt Ltd 25 Lakhs. This funding aims to catalyse the growth of these ventures and contribute to the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

A total of INR 14.6 Crores has been disbursed to startups under startup support schemes out of which INR 1.30 Crores have been sanctioned to 13 Agri-focused startups in FY 23-24 by RKVY RAFTAAR RABI scheme by Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare & INR 2.89 Crores have been sanctioned to 13 startups under Startup India Seed Fund Scheme.

With the aid of IIM Kashipur’s FIED, several brilliant startups, such as Bijak, Loopworm, Greenpod Labs, InfyU Labs, Agronxt, Industill, and Ikayu Foodlabs, have raised INR 320 Crores and more in funding from outside venture capital firms and angel investors. Under the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare’s RKVY RAFTAAR RABI scheme, IIM Kashipur FIED has provided funding and business training to 200+ startups since its founding in 2018, including 68 with an agri-focused focus.

100 promising agri-startups and community-focused businesses from the Uttarakhand hills participated in the agriculture fair, showcasing their goods and services that support the agricultural industry and its supporting ecosystems.

MANAGE – Samunnati Agri-Start-up Awards recognise impact-driven agriculture and Agri-Tech start-ups 

Sid’s Farm, a premium D2C dairy brand based out of Telangana, was recognised and felicitated as the ‘Best Agri Start-up’ of Telangana. This honour was bestowed on the company at a well-attended awards ceremony organised under the aegis of The National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE), in association with Samunnati, India’s major open-agri network of smallholder farmers. Dr Kishore Indukuri, Founder, Sid’s Farm received the award on behalf of his organisation from Sushri Shobha Karandlaje, MoS, Agriculture and Farmer Welfare, GoI. 

The MANAGE – Samunnati recognises start-ups dedicated to rebuilding the agriculture development ecosystem and to supporting farmers through technological innovations.

The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) has declared 2023 as the International Year of Millets, with 72 countries supporting India’s proposal at the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. To commemorate this, the University of Agricultural Sciences, Raichur and NABARD recently held a two-day Millets Conclave in collaboration with the agriculture and allied departments.

Issues related to nutritious cereal production and value addition were discussed with the farmers, FPOs, entrepreneurs, Agri startups, investors, exporters, agricultural scientists, NABARD and lead banks and agricultural development departments.

On this occasion, the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced several awards including three first prizes of one crore rupees each as an incentive to Agri Startups participating in the Millets Innovation Challenge, while Narendra Singh Tomar, the Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare said, “The time has come to give Millets a respectable place in the plate of food not only in India but across the world. We have to bring forth the importance of nutritious grains to the world”.

Promotion of millets not only meets the food requirements, but will also give an opportunity to new startups to bring their products to the world. Which increases employment opportunities, especially women can engage themselves in work from millet production to processing. Today, India is the major producer of millets in the world, with Karnataka being a major contributor. Millet production is beneficial to the farmers. It requires very little water, and can be produced even on rocky land.

Under the Millet Innovation Challenge, the Finance Minister bestows Rs one crore each to Agri Startups for their distinctive contribution. Besides, awards of Rs 20 lakh are given to 15 Agri Startups and Rs 10 lakh each to 15 other Agri Startups. She also announced a fund of Rs 25 crore to the University of Agricultural Sciences, Raichur from NABARD for millet research.
