Exports 1455 tractors globally

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd’s Farm Equipment Sector (FES), part of the Mahindra Group, has announced its record high tractor sales numbers for October 2022. Commenting on the performance, Hemant Sikka, President – Farm Equipment Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd said, “We have sold 50539 tractors in the domestic market during October 2022, a growth of 11 percent over last year. Festive season kept the spirits high and led to very strong momentum in demand for tractors and farm machinery. The recent Government announcement of higher MSP for key Rabi crops, good moisture content in the soil, high reservoir levels and good progress in sowing for Rabi crops are all positives for continued good demand for tractors in coming months. In the exports market, we have sold 1455 tractors.”

Domestic sales in June 2022 were at 39825 units, as against 46875 units during June 2021

Mahindra & Mahindra Limited’s Farm Equipment Sector (FES), part of the Mahindra Group, has recently announced its tractor sales numbers for June 2022. Domestic sales in June 2022 were at 39825 units, as against 46875 units during June 2021.

Total tractor sales (Domestic + Exports) during June 2022 were at 41848 units, as against 48222 units for the same period last year. Exports for the month stood at 2023 units.

Commenting on the performance, Hemant Sikka, President – Farm Equipment Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Limited said, “We have sold 39825 tractors in the domestic market during June 2022. With good prices for Rabi output, cash flow with farmers is good. Government’s approval on increase in MSP for all Kharif crops and forecast of a normal monsoon is very positive for a bumper Kharif crop. Though Kharif sowing is lagging in the first fortnight of the season than last year due to deficient rainfall in key kharif states, further advancement of Southwest monsoons across the country brings in positive sentiments and is likely to boost the tractor demands in the coming months. In the exports market, we have sold 2023 tractors with a growth of 50 per cent over last year”.

Mahindra Group has increased its stake in Carnot Technologies, an ag-tech startup, to approximately 69 per cent. The group has also affirmed its commitment to its vision of making Krish-e, the group’s farming as a service vertical, India’s largest ecosystem of digital products and solutions. As part of the round, an attractive ESOP pool for future employees has also been created.

Talking about the investment Senior Vice President of Farm Equipment Strategy and Head Krish-e Ramesh Ramachandran said, “This investment signals our strategic commitment to Carnot. They have been at the forefront of building for Bharat and innovating specifically for farmers. Since our last investment in late 2020, they have been our partner in leading the digital product and technology vision for Krish-e and in just under 18 months we have built a digital platform with a big Bharat footprint – including 500,000 app users, 4 million rental hours and 4 million acres of farmland. We now deepen the ties and continue building on our strengths.”

Carnot Technologies is a start-up founded by IIT Bombay alumni which developed the leading agriculture IoT platform Simha (rebranded to Krish-e Rental) which now has over 25,000 tractors, harvesters and sprayers working on over 3 million acres of land each season. The platform is protected by 5 patents and was awarded the Qualcomm Design in India award for $100K by then Minister of Cabinet for Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad.

“The team has also developed the Krish-e app which through its unique and intuitive farmer centric design is helping farmers earn up-to Rs 15,000 more per acre.” said Pushkar Limaye, Co-founder & CTO at Carnot. “In the course of our partnership with M&M, we realised that someone had to understand our farmers, and make products that are innovative, highly cost conscious and make sense for our farmers. And if it’s not the next generation of engineers and entrepreneurs then who will build them? With this round of investment, we also want to move into top gear, in pursuit of building a great team and a data driven culture within every function.”

The team aims to invest more in their technology and people to scale rapidly in the next year. Carnot CEO and Co-founder Rohan Vadgaonkar added “With our technology and product mindset and Mahindra’s strong brand and presence in rural India, we’re perfectly poised to build India’s largest agri marketplace.”

Mahindra & Mahindra’s farm equipment sector (FES), part of the Mahindra Group, announced its tractor sales numbers for January 2022. Domestic sales in January 2022 were at 21162 units, as against 33562 units during January 2021. Total tractor sales (Domestic + Exports) during January 2022 were at 22682 units, as against 34778 units for the same period last year. Exports for the month stood at 1520 units.

Hemant Sikka, President – Farm Equipment Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra said, “We have sold 21162 tractors in the domestic market during January 2022. On the back of good rainfall and high moisture content in the soil, Rabi sowing has been very good, and this bodes very well for a bumper crop harvest. Continued government focus on agriculture, rural infrastructure and higher cash flows with rabi harvest, will lead to positive sentiments and an increase in tractor demand. In the exports market, we have sold 1520 tractors, registering a growth of 25 per cent over last year.”
