The ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil & Water Conservation, Dehradun, Uttarakhand signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh.

The MoU is aimed at promoting Inter-Institutional Collaborative Research and academic engagements in the areas of common causes. Dr M Madhu, Director, ICAR-IISWC, Dehradun and Prof (Dr) Sangeeta Shukla, Vice-Chancellor, CCSU, Meerut signed the MoU on the behalf of their respective organisations.

Dr Madhu outlined the main objective of the MoU to stimulate and facilitate collaboration and promote the mutually interested common programmes that help advance the interests of scientific studies and societal development. He stressed that the national and international level collaborative programmes and engagements for enhanced outreach and awareness of technological outcomes and success stories would be aimed through the MoU.

Dr Sangeeta Shukla urged for active collaborations in the diverse fields of science and technologies, especially, between the Faculty of Science and Faculty of Agriculture of the CCSU, Meerut and ICAR-IISWC, Dehradun.

Dehradun-based agritech startup Valley Culture has raised funds worth Rs 2 crores from TMRW Network. The agritech startup works with farmers from across the state, ensuring fair prices and supplying pure, traditional and wholesome farm produce to the world. Valley Culture works with over 4000 farmers across the state of Uttarakhand of which the majority are women giving hope and a lifeline to more than 600 widows.

Founders Shikha Prakash and Robin Nagar plan to build a complete Farm to fork ecosystem, to help Himalayan farmers get better prices, build market linkages & direct access to customers. Also, they are steadfast and determined to promote a healthy lifestyle by reviving the traditional foods of Uttarakhand. The startup targets Rs 100-crore turnover in the next 18 months.

The ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil & Water Conservation, Dehradun, Uttarakhand organised the meeting to extend the MoU with the Eco-Task Force (127 Infantry Battalion (TA) Ecological, Garhwal Rifles Garhi Cantonment, Dehradun, Uttarakhand).

The meeting was held between Dr M Madhu, Director, ICAR-IISWC, Dehradun and Col Rohit Srivastav, Commanding Officer, ETF, Dehradun. The MoU has been mutually agreed to be extended for the next five years with an additional objective of jointly developing a Model Village in Jounsar Bhabar Area of Uttarakhand.

Both the organisations underwent the collaboration during 2016 that was again reshaped during 2019 for the period of two years ending in December 2021.
