Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST) Kashmir, in collaboration with AVPL International, has successfully commenced an intensive training program on the third day of the event to advance drone technology skills among aspiring agritech professionals. With funding from the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME), this specialised training aims to enhance the precision and profitability of farming practices through the integration of drone technology. With initiatives like this, SKUAST aims to nurture a generation of innovators and entrepreneurs who can bring transformative ideas to India’s agricultural landscape.

The program, hosted at SKUAST’s Center for Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (CAIML), has drawn many participants from diverse academic and professional backgrounds, reflecting the growing interest in tech-driven agriculture. The training sessions, led by prominent industry experts, focus on key drone technologies and their applications in sustainable farming, including the use of multispectral cameras and thermal imaging for enhanced crop yield and soil health.

AVPL International, an innovator in drone technology, has played a pivotal role in the training sessions. Himanshu Sharma, CEO of AVPL International, emphasized the critical role of precision farming in ensuring sustainable agriculture. “Sustainable farming can only be achieved through precision farming, and AVPL International is committed to advancing technology in this field. The right choice of drones and technology, including innovations such as AI-driven imaging and IoT integration, is essential for creating viable and impactful solutions,” Sharma said.

Prof. Nazir A. Ganai, Vice Chancellor of SKUAST, praised AVPL’s role in revolutionizing farming with drone technology, stating, “AVPL has been a leader in integrating drone technology into agriculture, significantly contributing to both farming efficiency and environmental sustainability.”

The program was also attended by Dr. Himanshu Parhak, Director General of ICAR Sher-e-Kashmir, who lauded the collaborative efforts at SKUAST, including the CAIML’s initiatives in artificial intelligence and machine learning, which are expected to drive future advancements in agricultural technology. Dr. Showkat Rasool, the Program Coordinator and head of CAIML, also highlighted the essential role of industry collaboration in building a strong, tech-savvy workforce equipped for the demands of modern agriculture.

Experts from across India, including IoTechWorld Avigation, MACFOS LIMITED, and IIT Mandi, also contributed their expertise to the sessions. Their involvement provided students with hands-on experience in essential technologies, such as AI and IoT-integrated drones, underscoring the benefits of drone-based crop management, which include enhanced crop quality, increased yield, and reduced labor costs.

In a significant move to boost the employability of Indian drone pilots, AVPL International, a leading player in AgriTech and drone technology, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Taiwan-based Ahamani Advanced Inc. This collaboration was unveiled at the 2024 India-Taiwan Industrial Collaboration Summit, organized by FICCI.

The MOU aims to facilitate the dual certification of Indian drone pilots, allowing them to earn credentials from both the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in India and the Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA) in Taiwan. This initiative is expected to broaden career opportunities for Indian pilots in international markets, particularly in sectors such as agriculture, logistics, and urban management. With certifications recognized in countries that adhere to CAA standards, Indian drone pilots will be better positioned to compete for jobs globally.

 In addition to certification, the MOU also outlines plans for educational collaboration with Taiwanese universities to develop specialized courses in drone technology. These training programs aim to prepare Indian pilots with the skills required to thrive in a rapidly changing industry. This collaboration is poised to open international career pathways for Indian youth and reinforce India’s standing in the global drone market. It also aligns with Ahamani Advanced Inc.’s goal of cultivating global partnerships to expand its technological reach.

The MOU is set to span five years, with the possibility of renewal based on the success of the initiative. The announcement at the India-Taiwan Industrial Collaboration Summit underscores India’s commitment to advancing drone technology and building a skilled workforce capable of meeting global demands.

AVPL International is on a mission to transform Indian agriculture through the use of advanced drone technology. In an endeavour to spread awareness on use of drones for progressive agriculture practices, AVPL has recently started a mega campaign. It aims to make cutting-edge drone solutions accessible to farmers nationwide, significantly impacting farming practices.

The campaign kicked off in Gurugram, Haryana, recently with plans to showcase live drone demonstrations in around 600 villages across the region. These demonstrations, supported by the Gurugram Shikohpur Agricultural Science Centre, will illustrate the benefits of drone technology, such as labour and time savings, water conservation, and cost-effective crop spraying. Farmers will experience firsthand how drones can enhance their agricultural practices, improving efficiency and safety.

AVPL International has set an ambitious goal of connecting over 140 million farmers with drone technology over the next five years, which shall be executed with the help of DeHaat and Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) across the states. The campaign also aims to develop a robust ecosystem by creating 65,000 drone entrepreneurs and 80,000 agri-entrepreneurs. The large-scale drone demonstrations will address technical challenges in agriculture, providing practical solutions to the issues faced by farmers.

To support drone operators, AVPL International is establishing a comprehensive network of drone repair and service centres across India. Initial plans include setting up four Repair and Product Testing Organisations (RPTOs) in Haryana, with further expansion planned for Northern India and beyond. This initiative will provide localised support, ensuring farmers have convenient access to maintenance and repair services.

The campaign also highlights the importance of supporting “Drone Didis” (female drone operators) by offering training and assistance with drone repairs. This component of the initiative addresses challenges such as the difficulty of travelling long distances for repairs and the need for reliable drone maintenance.

This collaboration marks a significant step forward in efforts to modernise the agricultural sector by merging advanced technology with grassroots agricultural expertise.

The initiative will see AVPL International’s advanced agricultural technologies being integrated with DeHaat’s well-established network, providing farmers with improved tools and resources. Additionally, AVPL International will provide training to create Dronepreneurs who will be appointed at DeHaat stores to offer drone services to farmers. These Dronepreneurs will be responsible for providing Drone-as-a-Service (DaaS) at each DeHaat store, including data sharing and precision farming initiatives over the next three years. The partnership will be implemented in phases, starting with key agricultural regions and expanding to cover the entire country.

Moreover, the partnership will focus on opening stores in agricultural mandis owned by state governments, in association with the National Council of State Agriculture Boards. AVPL International will also provide DaaS services across 70 locations for conducting non-agri training and deploy one drone entrepreneur for DaaS at each DeHaat store.

AVPL International, with a presence across 12 states, also has a collaboration with the Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) to conduct drone spray operations across an expansive 50 lakh acres, spanning eight states including Gujarat, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, West Bengal, and Uttar Pradesh.

These efforts will focus on promoting candidates as agri-entrepreneurs, equipping them with the necessary knowledge and skills to adopt new technologies and innovative farming practices. The training will encompass a wide range of areas including drone training, drone manufacturing, agri-trainings, agri-retail, and multi-sector skill development, all aimed at creating “Dronepreneurs” and agri-entrepreneurs.

Farmer City International Pvt Ltd (FC), a subsidiary of AVPL International, is also a crucial part of this partnership. FC is dedicated to empowering farmers and enhancing economic opportunities through a unique phygital model that integrates physical stores with digital platforms. As an aggregator of agri-tech start-ups, FC aims to transform Indian agriculture by providing farmers with training, certification, market linkages, and a wide range of agricultural services and products.

To bolster research and development efforts, AVPL International will establish its R&D lab within Technopark@iitk, the research and technology park of IIT Kanpur.

The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK) and AVPL International, a leading company in the Indian agriculture drone ecosystem, have joined hands for co-developing cutting-edge drones equipped with advanced technology, designed to address the challenges faced by large-scale landholders in India, Australia, Austria, and multiple European nations. Through pioneering drone technology and a strong emphasis on innovation and collaboration, this partnership is set to revolutionise agricultural practices and enhance sustainability globally.

To undertake joint research with the Signal Processing in Networking (Spin) laboratory at the Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Kanpur, under the guidance of Prof. Ketan Rajawat, an MoU was signed by Prof. Tarun Gupta, Dean of Research and Development at IIT Kanpur, and  Preet Sandhuu, Founder and Chairman of AVPL International.

The signing ceremony was attended by Prof. Jayandharan G Rao and Prof. Ketan Rajawat from IIT Kanpur, as well as Prof. Amarendra Singh, Reema Mittal, and Dr. Piyashee Mallik representing Technopark@iitk, along with Mr. Himanshu Sharma, CEO of AVPL International, Mr. Haren Gandhi, and Ms. Sweta Singh from AVPL.

The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and AVPL International have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish 70 Skills and Incubation Hubs across India. These hubs will focus on global employment in drones, IoT, agriculture, and allied sectors. This initiative aims to enhance vocational training and skill development, positioning India as a leader in global skill development.

Ved Mani Tiwari, CEO of NSDC, expressed excitement about the partnership, highlighting the advanced training facilities and globally recognized certification programs it will bring to the youth. AVPL International will upgrade 50 existing training facilities to Global Skills and Incubation Hubs (GISH) across 12 Indian states. These hubs will offer certificate courses from prestigious institutions like IITs and IIMs and dual certification programs with international accreditation bodies through NSDC International.

Deep Sihag Sisai, Founder and Managing Director of AVPL International, emphasised the transformative impact of this initiative, aiming to uplift the local workforce and set a new benchmark in drone, IoT, agriculture, and allied sector training. The comprehensive training programmes will target 1,40,000 candidates annually, providing them with IIT-certified courses and internationally recognised accreditations.
