Farmers of 800 villages are being given a subsidy of 25 per cent on the price (MRP) of Nano Urea Plus, Nano DAP and Sagarika by IFFCO

To promote the use of nano fertilizers, the Nano Fertilizer Usage Promotion Mahaabhiyan has been launched by IFFCO on 1st July 2024. Under this, 200 model nano village clusters have been selected by IFFCO. Through this, farmers of 800 villages are being given a subsidy of 25 per cent on the price (MRP) of Nano Urea Plus, Nano DAP and Sagarika by IFFCO so that farmers can use nano fertilizers more and more in their fields. Along with this, IFFCO will give a grant of Rs 100 per acre to the drone entrepreneur so that farmers can get the facility of spraying at low rates. Farmers will be made aware of the increase in the quality and production of the crop in these model nano villages.

Prime Minister has also launched 100 days action plan to increase the use of nano fertilizers in agriculture, under which 1270 demonstrations of Nano DAP (liquid) will be conducted in 413 districts and 200 trials of Nano Urea Plus (liquid) in 100 districts. In these trials, the help of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, State Agricultural University and other research institutions will be taken and monitored by the Government of India.

Nano fertilizers will be made available by IFFCO to the cooperative society and other sales outlets.  Farmers will be told about the benefits of nano fertilizers. IFFCO is providing 2500 agricultural drones for farmers for spraying nano fertilizers, for which 300 ‘Namo Drone Didi’ and drone entrepreneurs have been prepared. Apart from this, other types of sprayers have also been made available through which farmers will be able to easily spray nano fertilizers in their fields. Contracts have been made with 15 institutions to spray 245 lakh acres of area by drones which will spray in the fields of farmers. An incentive of Rs 100 per acre will also be provided on each spray.

From August 2021 to June 26, 2024, a total of 7.55 crore Nano Urea and 0.69 crore Nano DAP bottles produced by IFFCO have been used by farmers. In order to provide maximum benefit to the farmers, IFFCO has set a target of producing 4 crore Nano Urea Plus and 2 crore Nano DAP bottles in the year 2024-25. In this sequence, from April 2024, IFFCO has made available Nano Urea Plus (liquid) 20% w/v N of high concentration to the farmers, which will help in increasing quality crop productivity and environmental protection.

Under this campaign, IFFCO has also planned publicity, field testing, training of secretaries of cooperative societies etc. in all the districts of the country. The Ministry of Fertilizers will also collaborate to implement this scheme so that the use of nano fertilizers in place of chemical fertilizers in the fields can be encouraged. Under this mega campaign, it has been planned to provide 6 crore bottles of nano fertilizers which will be distributed through 36000 member cooperative societies of IFFCO and other cooperative societies.

IFFCO has formed partnership with Nanoventions Private Limited (NVPL) and Fausto Caron from Nanofert for introducing Nano fertilizers in Brazil market.

IFFCO, India’s largest cooperative, has signed a partnership to introduce these innovative products to the Brazilian market. Through Nanoventions Private Limited (NVPL), IFFCO will initially license and market its products to Nanofert, a venture by entrepreneurs Fausto Caron and Ritesh Sharma. Eventually, IFFCO plan to produce these nanoinputs locally.

Dr Arunachalam Lakshmanan from NVPL, Yogendra Kumar Board of Director IFFCO, and Fausto Caron from Nanofert have formed an unprecedented partnership. We recently had the honour of meeting the Governor of Mato Grosso, where fascinating discussions about advancing nanotechnology in Brazil took place.

Nanotechnology in agriculture is gaining traction, and our project marks the first commercial adoption of this cutting-edge technology in Brazil. Since 2017, we have been researching nanotechnology, and by 2019, our first promising results emerged. Despite challenges, including adverse weather conditions in 2020, fields treated with nano fertilizers showed remarkable resilience and productivity.

The secret lies in the nanometric scale of our inputs, allowing for extensive coverage and efficient nutrient delivery. As Arunachalam Lakshmanan, General Director of NVPL, explains, “It’s like dividing an apple into thin slices to increase its coverage area. This innovation addresses a significant challenge in fertilizer use—high product loss. Currently, plants absorb only 20-30 per cent of chemical fertilizers, with the rest lost as gas or in the soil. Our nano fertilizers aim to change that, reducing environmental impact and enhancing agricultural productivity.”

After ten years, IFFCO’s Nano Urea and Nano DAP will find a place in the list of biggest experiments done in the agricultural sector

Amit Shah, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation inaugurated IFFCO’s Nano DAP (Liquid) Plant at Kalol in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare and Chemicals & Fertilisers, Mansukh Mandaviya and many other dignitaries were present on this occasion.

Amit Shah said that today is a very important day for the entire Western India including Gujarat as IFFCO’s Nano DAP (Liquid) plant has been inaugurated at Kalol in Gandhinagar district. Minister of Cooperation, while congratulating the IFFCO team for taking India first in the world in Nano Urea and Nano DAP, said that India is an agricultural country blessed with large and fertile cultivable land and climate suitable for three to four crops, a combination not to be found anywhere else in the world. He said that India is the only country where in the last 75 years we have developed such a system that farmers can do farming every month.

Union Minister of Cooperation said that it is the responsibility of the cooperative institutions of India to bridge the gap between the requirement and production of food grains in the country. He said that after ten years, when the list of biggest experiments done in the agricultural sector would be prepared, IFFCO’s Nano Urea and Nano DAP will find a place in it. Shah said that the need of the hour is to reduce the use of urea and move towards natural farming but at the same time, there is also a need to increase production. Shri Shah said that Nano Urea is sprayed not on the ground but on the plants and due to this, there is a zero possibility of destruction of natural elements or the earthworms present in the soil. If all the Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) use Nano Urea and Nano DAP in partnership with IFFCO then very soon our land will move towards natural farming.

He said that IFFCO has set up pan-India plants in a very modern manner. There can be no greater example of Make in India than this. IFFCO’s Kalol unit will produce about 42 lakh bottles of green technology-based Nano DAP which will definitely benefit the farmers. He said that 60 per cent of the people in our country are dependent on agriculture for earning a living and 60 per cent of the country’s land is suitable for agriculture, but for years both farmers and agriculture were ignored.

After ten years, IFFCO's Nano Urea and
