The company expects CAPSTONE and ZAAFU to make up more than 10 per cent of its crop protection portfolio’s fungicide category

A TATA Enterprise Rallis India Limited, has announced the introduction of two new fungicides, CAPSTONE and ZAAFU, which are intended to combat different types of neck blast and sheath blight.

The fungicide portfolio of Rallis India Limited is well known in the market, and the company expects CAPSTONE and ZAAFU to make up more than 10 per cent of its crop protection portfolio’s fungicide category.

Rallis India launches CAPSTONE for the first time on the Indian market to treat this disease. Fenoxanil and Isoprothialane are the main ingredients in CAPSTONE. Isoprothiolane is an inhibitor of lipid biosynthesis, whereas Fenoxanil is an inhibitor of melanin biosynthesis. For the first time in India, farmers will now have access to a mixture containing Fenoxanil. In collaboration with Nihon Nohyaku, a Japanese company that develops agrochemicals, this product was created in India.

CAPSTONE has a dual mode of action because it is a combination of two different action fungicides, giving it qualities like excellent efficacy, longer duration of disease control, no cross-resistance, and prevention against resistance build-up.

The systemic fungicide ZAAFU has a special formulation. Zaafu offers a great treatment for Sheath Blight and Sheath Rot in Paddy. It is a fungicide in the form of granules that are intended to be broadcast in the field along with the first top dressing of fertiliser.

The initiative will serve the purpose of financial inclusion and strengthening service delivery to farmers

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved computerisation of Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) with the objective of increasing their efficiency and bringing transparency and accountability in their operations. This project proposes computerisation of about 63,000 functional PACS over a period of five years with a total budget outlay of Rs 2516 crore and the government’s share of Rs 1528 crore.

PACS constitute the lowest tier of the three-tier Short-term cooperative credit (STCC) in the country comprising of around 13 crore farmers as its members, which is crucial for the development of the rural economy. PACS account for 41 per cent (3.01 crore farmers) of the KCC loans given by all entities in the country and 95 per cent of these KCC loans (2.95 crore farmers) through PACS are given to the small and marginal farmers.

Computerisation of PACS, besides serving the purpose of financial inclusion and strengthening service delivery to farmers, will also will become a nodal service delivery point for various services and provision of inputs like fertilisers, seeds etc. The project will help in improving the outreach of the PACS as outlets for banking activities as well as non-banking activities apart from improving digitalisation in rural areas.

BAL had received the patent for Ronfen, which covers the composition of Pyriproxyfen 8 per cent, Diafenthiuron 18 per cent, and Dinotefuran 5 per cent in a unique suspension concentrate formulation

Best Agrolife Limited (BAL), one of the fastest-growing agrochemical company in India, has recently made two major announcements. The Central Insecticides Board & Registration Committee granted the registration for the indigenous manufacturing of the company’s much-awaited patented ternary insecticide to BAL u/s 9 (3) in the 437th RC meeting.

The company will launch it by the brand name Ronfen. BAL had received the patent for Ronfen, which covers the composition of Pyriproxyfen 8 per cent, Diafenthiuron 18 per cent, and Dinotefuran 5 per cent in a unique suspension concentrate formulation, in August last year. With this BAL has become the first Indian agrochemical company to manufacture this first-of-its-kind, three-way insecticidal combination that effectively controls the entire sucking pest complex in various stages in one shot.

Other than Ronfen, the leading agro-inputs company has also been granted the registration for the indigenous manufacturing of Dinotefuran 15 per cent + Pymetrozine 45 per cent WG along with technical manufacturing of Pyrithiobac Sodium u/s 9(4) TIM category in the same RC meeting. The company has decided to launch it with the brand name AxeMan.

“Sucking pests pierce plant parts, suck the plant sap which in turn results in minute white, brown, or red spotting on the leaves, fruits, or stems of the plant. It may also cause curling leaves, deformed fruit, general wilting, browning, and drying of the entire plant. Until now, safeguarding their crops from the sucking pests was a very costly business for the farmers in India and across the globe as they had to spend their hard-earned money on various pesticides. Motivated by a strong sense of urgency and eyeing the opportunity, our R&D team worked on developing a revolutionary one-shot solution for all the sucking pests and innovated Ronfen.” said Vimal Alawadhi, MD Best Agrolife Limited.

“Ronfen was under extensive scale field trials for the last two years. Due to its incredible power on the entire sucking pest complex Ronfen was much awaited by the farmers in India and abroad,” he added further.

On the other hand, AxeMan, with its dual mode of action, helps in protecting the rice crop from the devastating pest BPH which develops high resistance against all agrochemicals.  AxeMan provides healthy and vibrant tillers at the reproductive stage and helps in the long-duration control and resistance management of BPH in paddy.

USDA will make available $250 million through a new grant programme this summer to support independent, innovative and sustainable American fertiliser production to supply American farmers

The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) is announcing it will support additional fertiliser production for American farmers to address rising costs, including the impact of Putin’s price hike on farmers, and spur competition.

USDA will make available $250 million through a new grant programme this summer to support independent, innovative and sustainable American fertiliser production to supply American farmers. Additionally, to address growing competition concerns in the agricultural supply chain, USDA will launch a public inquiry seeking information regarding seeds and agricultural inputs, fertiliser, and retail markets.

“Recent supply chain disruptions from the global pandemic to Putin’s unprovoked war against Ukraine have shown just how important it is to invest in this crucial link in the agricultural supply chain here at home,” said Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack.

Fertiliser prices have more than doubled since last year due to many factors including Putin’s price hike, a limited supply of the relevant minerals and high energy costs, high global demand and agricultural commodity prices, reliance on fertiliser imports, and lack of competition in the fertiliser industry.

The new programme will support fertiliser production that is:

  • Independent;
  • Made in America;
  • Innovative;
  • Sustainable;
  • Farmer-focused

Secretary Vilsack said, “As I talk to farmers, ranchers and agriculture and food companies about the recent market challenges, I hear significant concerns about whether large companies along the supply chain are taking advantage of the situation by increasing profits—not just responding to supply and demand or passing along the costs.”
