AMVAC®, launches BioWake™ dual-use biological seed lubricant
It is approved for use on corn and soybean seeds, and are a cleaner, safer alternative to talc and graphite products typically used to ensure seed flowability through the planter.
AMVAC®, is a subsidiary of American Vanguard Corporation and a global technology solutions provider in agriculture, has added BioWake™ dual-use biological seed lubricant to its GreenSolutions™ biological product portfolio. BioWake is an all-in-one biological planter box seed lubricant that delivers superior seed flow and enhanced nutrient uptake from the date of planting.
BioWake is a dry application seed lubricant made from soybeans with an added biological benefit. The products are approved for use on corn and soybean seeds, and are a cleaner, safer alternative to talc and graphite products typically used to ensure seed flowability through the planter. The beneficial microbes in BioWake are proven to improve nutrient uptake to enhance root development and plant efficiency, in addition to yield benefits.
“BioWake is an easy, convenient solution for farmers to kickstart their corn and soybean growing season,” said Ted Walter, U.S. GreenSolutions Marketing Manager, AMVAC. “BioWake offers protection for the crop with its 180-day on-seed stability to trigger biological activity for months after planting.”
AMVAC leverages Terrasym® microbial inoculants from NewLeaf Symbiotics® to add live microbial benefits and DUST soy protein planter lubricant from Low Mu Tech in the development of BioWake. After planting, BioWake’s microbes spread from the seed surface across the plant’s roots and leaves to improve nutrient uptake, secrete beneficial molecules into the root zone, and ensure transport of micronutrients throughout the growing season.
“Starting the season with biologic activity will give corn and soybean growers an advantage from day one through harvest,” Walter said. “Trials and research data on BioWake speak for themselves, with a proven yield increase of 4.5 bushels per acre in corn and 2 bushels per acre in soybeans. As iron chlorosis remains a large issue in many regions, BioWake also features a unique ability to enhance iron nutrient uptake, with results showing an increase of 17.5 per cent in corn and 19.4 per cent in soybeans.”
