Punjab Agricultural University has signed 57 MoAs for the commercialisation of the biogas plant-based technologies till date.
The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) Ludhiana linked a pact with a Barnala based firm and another with a Kolhapur based firm for commercialisation of Biogas Plant based technologies. Dr Ajmer Singh Dhatt, Director of Research, PAU, and the representatives of the firms signed the Memorandum of Agreements (MoAs) on behalf of their organisations.
Divulging the details, Dr Ajmer Singh Dhatt, shared that PAU entered into a pact with Chhapa Energy Power Company based at Village Chappa (District Barnala) for PAU Fixed Dome type Janta Model. He also congratulated Dr. Sarbjit Singh Sooch for the commercialization of the technology.
Sharing information about PAU dome type family size biogas plant, Dr. Sooch explained that the construction of this type of plant is easy as it is an all-brick masonry structure. This design is suitable for all regions of the country. The single digester of this plant can be designed for any rated capacity from 1 m3/day to 25 m3/day. The cost of this plant is 60 – 70% as compared to the cost of other conventional model biogas plant (floating drum biogas plants) and maintenance requirements of this plant are also far less than the floating drum biogas plants. The digested material so produced from such anaerobic digestion is a good quality manure, and is ready-for-use in fields, he added.
Dr. Khushdeep Dharni, Associate Director, Technology Marketing and IPR Cell, PAU, informed that the University has signed 57 MoAs for the commercialisation of the biogas plant-based technologies till date; thereby, providing energy efficient solutions to the masses through its commercialisation efforts.
