The CelluSmart technology will help ethanol producers in the measurement of cellulosic ethanol from biofuel production.

Neogen® Corporation, an innovative leader in food safety solutions, announced that it has launched the new CelluSmart technology from Megazyme® by Neogen for the measurement of cellulosic ethanol from biofuel production.

In creating this industry-first technology, Neogen improved upon the previous National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) procedure, introducing a yeast-degrading cocktail (YDC). With these improvements, CelluSmart allows the ethanol industry to fully realize its efforts to produce low-carbon fuels, represented in value by the D3 RINs generated from in-situ production.

Cellulosic ethanol represents a 60 per cent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from standard petroleum-based fuel and helps progress toward climate goals. The CelluSmart technology has the potential to help ethanol producers further reduce carbon intensity scores, which, in combination with other factors, may help them gain access to new markets, including sustainable aviation fuel.

“The ethanol industry is a success story in providing low-carbon renewable energy,” said John Adent, Neogen’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “With the new CelluSmart technology, we can continue to leverage our knowledge in fiber and carbohydrate method development to contribute to the growth of this industry and help create a more sustainable world.”

“Neogen is a long-term partner with the biofuel industry, and we have worked together in the food safety space over the years,” said Dr Jason Lilly, Vice President of the Americas and Australia/New Zealand at Neogen. “We are thrilled to provide producers with this highly requested technology and strengthen our relationship with the industry as we strive to enable a more sustainable future.”

The CelluSmart technology is incorporated into ASTM Method E-3417-24, which meets the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) requirements for an approved method from a voluntary consensus standards body.

The product is formulated with a unique combination of active ingredients, including an insect growth regulator

NEOGEN Corporation announced recently that it has added a new product to the trusted Prozap insect control line.

Prozap Protectus Pour-On Insecticide – IGR is a ready-to-use triple-active formula for use on beef cattle and calves that kills chewing and sucking lice, horn flies, stable flies, horse and deer flies. The product is formulated with a unique combination of active ingredients, including an insect growth regulator (IGR), adulticide, and a synergist, which provides cattle with relief from infestations and kills louse eggs before they hatch, providing season-long control of lice in one application.

The formula, which contains 3 per cent diflubenzuron, 2.5 per cent piperonyl butoxide, and 0.5 per cent lambda-cyhalothrin, is applied along the back of the animal being treated utilising a graduated applicator gun.

“We are incredibly excited to offer this new, premium insect control product to producers,” said Elizabeth Wonsowski, NEOGEN’s Ruminant Product Marketing Manager. “The formulation of the new Prozap Protectus Pour-On product provides beef cattle producers with a unique option compared to existing products currently on the market and will help minimise cattle handling, time, and labor costs associated with treatment.”

NEOGEN offers a complete insecticide product portfolio for farm, home, and ranch settings, including products for horses and livestock within barns, stables, kennels, and more.

New Synergize RTU disinfectant removes the need to mix, saving producers time and eliminating the need to handle the concentrated product

NEOGEN Corporation has recently announced that it has added a ready-to-use formulation of their Synergize disinfectant to their biosecurity portfolio.

Synergize RTU is a new formulation of the company’s Synergize disinfectant that has been trusted by producers for over 20 years. The disinfectant and deodoriser require no mixing, eliminating several steps that were required to use the concentrated product, saving users both time and money spent on the personal protective equipment items required to handle the concentrate.

“At NEOGEN, we always want to offer solutions that make the process of enhancing animal safety as easy and cost-effective as possible,” said John Adent, NEOGEN’s President and CEO.

Synergize RTU is a non-corrosive, combination ammonium and glutaraldehyde multi-purpose disinfectant that kills both Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria, fungi, and viruses, including the viruses that cause avian influenza and COVID-19. It can be applied with a cloth, sponge, mop, or mechanical coarse spray device.

NEOGEN’s comprehensive suite of bio-security products, including sanitisers, apparel, cleaners, and disinfectants, were primarily developed for use in NEOGEN’s agricultural markets, but many are useful in preventing the spread of disease .
