This partnership extends the technology beyond healthcare and into agricultural applications

Alveo Technologies, Inc. announced a collaboration with Corteva Agriscience to expand the offering of its novel eco-friendly molecular sensing and disease diagnostics technology to include a first-in-field agricultural disease diagnostic.

Alveo has developed a rapid, handheld, portable medical-grade platform that pairs advanced molecular assays with cloud-enabled data analytics for real-time disease, pathogen analysis, and diagnosis. Using this highly sensitive multiplexed molecular testing platform, Corteva scientists aim to design crop-specific assays to detect pathogens in the field.

“Alveo has developed a game-changing, mobile ‘molecular lab’ that can deliver highly sensitive and specific diagnostic testing where it is needed, which can help solve some of the world’s most complex problems, like pandemics and global food crises,” said Shaun Holt, Alveo CEO. “Our collaboration with Corteva reflects our core focus of taking molecular testing out of the lab and directly to the point of need where it can deliver insight and guidance. This partnership extends the technology beyond healthcare and into agricultural applications.”

“Corteva Agriscience explores the latest technologies as we strive to bring actionable insights and solutions to farmers where and when they need them,” said Gina Zastrow-Hayes, Technical Director, Seed, R&D & Biotechnology, Corteva. “We are pleased to explore this feasibility with Alveo and are excited by the potential that in-field molecular testing platforms hold for the agricultural industry.”

Farmers were educated about different technologies developed by the Centre

Dr Jagadish Barbad, Joint Director, Animal Husbandry Department appraised State Animal Husbandry Department’s role in promotion of camel farming. He applauded NRCC’s role in extending animal health services to this far-reach areas of Rajasthan. Dr Artabandhu Sahoo, Director, ICAR-NRCC briefed about the recent achievements of the Institute.

The camp was attended by more than 258 farmers in which 408 camels received prophylactic chemotherapy for deadly disease ‘Surra’. Risk for outbreak of Surra disease in camel in coming months is high due to higher precipitation received in Rajasthan state compared to the previous year’s resulting into increased population of blood sucking flies transmitting the disease.

Farmers were educated about different technologies developed by the Centre and other efforts taken for conservation of camel like promotion of camel as a milch animal.

During the camps, dewormers, first aid medicine kits, feed supplements and salt licks were also distributed for other livestock farmers. Blood and fecal samples were collected from camels for updating the epidemiological status of various parasitic diseases prevalent in the area. The Camel and other livestock owners were also advised on usage and advantage of mineral and feed supplements, medicines for immediate health care besides special.  attention on seasonal health. care, year-round management practices, cleanliness of self and the premises. They were also explained on clean milk production, organised collection, processing and marketing of camel milk for higher benefit and revenue with profitability.

BAL organised a mega farmer awareness meet to train farmers and onion growers in Nashik, Maharashtra.

Best Agrolife Limited (BAL), one among the Top 15 Crop Protection Agrochemical companies in India, organised a mega farmer awareness meet to train farmers and onion growers in Nashik, Maharashtra. Agriculture minister (State) Dadasaheb Bhuse was present as the Chief Guest at the event in which hundreds of farmers participated to benefit from the expertise provided by BAL.

The experts at the meet informed farmers that Q-Fop+ Oxyclean (oxyfluorfen 23.5 ec) would help them produce weed-free onion, Vibgyor will help control soil insects, and the majority of diseases can be controlled by using company’s fungicides like Bestline, Zodio, Zoxit and Tebuca.

Farmers present at the meet interacted with the experts and got their problems solved. “In Rabi season, a minimum of three lakh acre onion is cultivated in Maharashtra. Hence it is necessary that the farmers get all possible advice to ensure crop’s health.
