The Pyroxasulfone market is worth over 450 crore in India, and BAL plans to achieve 300-350 crore of the Proxysulfone market in the next three years

Best Agrolife Ltd. (BAL), announced that it has inked an agreement with Syngenta for the marketing of Pyroxosulfone 85 per cent WG herbicide under the brand name Movondo.

Pyroxasulfone is a pre-emergence herbicide for wheat, corn, and soybean that ensures increased yields while offering outstanding crop safety by eliminating weeds that pose a threat to these crops. It is more effective against broadleaf weeds and requires fewer applications than other commercial herbicides. Pyroxasulfone 85 per cent WG controls the primary troublesome weed in wheat, Phalaris minor.

Syngenta is a global leader in crop protection and seeds, with a significant global share of the herbicide and commercial seed markets. This agreement will help both companies maximise the value of the new herbicide and efficiently establish a market for the product. The Pyroxasulfone market is worth over 450 crore, and BAL plans to achieve 300-350 crore of the Proxysulfone market in the next three years.

Previously, India imported Pyroxasulfone from foreign nations, but after gaining registration for the local manufacturing of Pyroxasulfone 85 per cent WG. BAL has become the first Indian agrochemical business to manufacture Pyroxasulfone 85 per cent WG locally. Seedlings India Pvt. Ltd., one of the wholly owned subsidiaries of BAL, will produce it under the Indian government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.  What truly distinguishes this deal as a groundbreaking development, showcasing the substantial influence of the ‘Make In India’ initiative on the global stage, is the unprecedented reversal of the conventional supply chain dynamics. Prior to this, multinational corporations had typically supplied key chemical compounds to Indian agrochemical companies. However, this deal marks a pivotal shift, as it signifies the first instance of Indian agrochemical companies taking the lead by exporting these molecules to their multinational counterparts.

Launches two Indigenously Manufactured CTPR-Based products

India’s leading agrochemical company, Best Agrolife Limited (BAL) organised a Mega Distributors’ Meet and launched two new revolutionary CTPR-based formulations – Citigen and Vistara in Pattaya, Bangkok. BAL is the first Indian agrochemical company to manufacture CTPR technical indigenously while contributing to the GOI’s Make in India mission and showcasing the country’s capabilities to the international agricultural scenario. The meet was exclusively held for the distributors from Maharashtra and more than 170 distributors attended this event.

Vimal Alawadhi, Managing Director of Best Agrolife Ltd., said, “We are raising the bar of innovation with every new product launch. Best Agro has invested heavily in enhancing its research and development capabilities. As is the case with each of our products, the newly launched Citigen and Vistara provide highly effective and affordable solutions to pest control in agriculture. While on the one hand, these will be a boon for the farmers and enhance their productivity, they will also provide our distributors and dealers with a marketing edge.”

Citigen (Chlorantraniliprole 18.5 per cent W/W SC) is a broad-spectrum insecticide with exceptional insecticide efficacy, longer rain fastness, and low mammalian toxicity. Other than sugarcane and rice, Citigen is highly recommended for controlling pests of cabbage, cotton, tomato, chili, soybean, brinjal, pigeon pea, Bengal gram, black gram, bitter gourd, okra, maize, and groundnut crop. It acts on Ball worms, stem borers, fruit borers, gram pod borers, stem flies, tobacco caterpillars, and pod borers.

Vistara (Chlorantraniliprole 0.4 per cent GR) prevents the build-up of shoot borer and stem borer populations in paddy and sugarcane and protects growers from incurring losses due to low crop yield and thereby maximising output. Due to its high insecticidal potency and novel mode of action, it effectively controls pests that are resistant to other insecticides. Due to its low dosage, it is safe for the environment as well.

There is extensive usage of CTPR (Chlorantraniliprole) based products, and its market size is more than Rs 2000 crore at present, which is a total of 8 per cent of the pesticide market.

BAL had received the patent for Ronfen, which covers the composition of Pyriproxyfen 8 per cent, Diafenthiuron 18 per cent, and Dinotefuran 5 per cent in a unique suspension concentrate formulation

Best Agrolife Limited (BAL), one of the fastest-growing agrochemical company in India, has recently made two major announcements. The Central Insecticides Board & Registration Committee granted the registration for the indigenous manufacturing of the company’s much-awaited patented ternary insecticide to BAL u/s 9 (3) in the 437th RC meeting.

The company will launch it by the brand name Ronfen. BAL had received the patent for Ronfen, which covers the composition of Pyriproxyfen 8 per cent, Diafenthiuron 18 per cent, and Dinotefuran 5 per cent in a unique suspension concentrate formulation, in August last year. With this BAL has become the first Indian agrochemical company to manufacture this first-of-its-kind, three-way insecticidal combination that effectively controls the entire sucking pest complex in various stages in one shot.

Other than Ronfen, the leading agro-inputs company has also been granted the registration for the indigenous manufacturing of Dinotefuran 15 per cent + Pymetrozine 45 per cent WG along with technical manufacturing of Pyrithiobac Sodium u/s 9(4) TIM category in the same RC meeting. “Sucking pests pierce plant parts, suck the plant sap which in turn results in minute white, brown, or red spotting on the leaves, fruits, or stems of the plant. It may also cause curling leaves, deformed fruit, general wilting, browning, and drying of the entire plant. Until now, safeguarding their crops from the sucking pests was a very costly business for the farmers in India and across the globe as they had to spend their hard-earned money on various pesticides. Motivated by a strong sense of urgency and eyeing the opportunity, our R&D team worked on developing a revolutionary one-shot solution for all the sucking pests and innovated Ronfen.” said Vimal Alawadhi, MD Best Agrolife Limited.

“Ronfen was under extensive scale field trials for the last two years. Due to its incredible power on the entire sucking pest complex Ronfen was much awaited by the farmers in India and abroad,” he added further.

On the other hand, AxeMan, with its dual mode of action, helps in protecting the rice crop from the devastating pest BPH which develops high resistance against all agrochemicals.  AxeMan provides healthy and vibrant tillers at the reproductive stage and helps in the long-duration control and resistance management of BPH in paddy.
