The partnership aims to foster collaboration within the AgriTech sector and advocate for a regulatory framework that champions sustainable agriculture practices.

The World BioProtection Forum (WBF) announced Absolute as its newest sponsoring partner, further strengthening the organization’s mission to foster collaboration within the AgriTech sector and advocate for a regulatory framework that champions sustainable agriculture practices.

Dedicated to promoting the synergy between industry and academia, the WBF serves as a vital platform for stakeholders keen on advancing the development and adoption of products essential to fostering clean, green agriculture. With a focus on leveraging the potent combination of Nature, Science, and Exponential Innovations, the Absolute is committed to reimagining the possibilities across Agriculture, Materials, and Care.

Dr Minshad Ansari, Founder and Chairman of WBF, expressed enthusiasm about Absolute’s inclusion, stating, “We are thrilled to welcome Absolute, to the WBF, which brings a diverse portfolio of biological products that complement traditional crop nutrition, including pioneering prototypes like Bioleather developed at their R&D hub, Xenesis.”

Agam Khare, Founder & CEO of Absolute, echoed this sentiment, emphasising the privilege of joining a global organization dedicated to accelerating the adoption of agricultural biologicals for sustainable farming practices.

In an era marked by the imperative of sustainable food security amidst challenges such as population growth and climate change, understanding and harnessing the potential of agricultural biologicals are paramount. The WBF recognizes this urgency and is actively working to establish a robust research foundation that elucidates the intricate interactions between microbial components and plants, paving the way for innovative solutions that enhance grower profitability while preserving biodiversity and natural resources.

Moreover, in alignment with global initiatives such as the EU’s ambitious targets to reduce pesticide and synthetic fertilizer usage, the WBF is advocating for reforms in biopesticide regulations to facilitate the entry of innovative products into the market.

To further these objectives, agricultural stakeholders and scientists from academia and private companies will convene at the annual World BioProtection Summit and Awards in London this November 2024. Organized by the WBF, this event serves as a platform for showcasing innovations, fostering networking opportunities, and sharing expertise to collectively advance knowledge in the field of agricultural biologicals. From biocontrol agents and biopesticides to biostimulants and biofertilizers, the summit will offer insights into cutting-edge research and initiatives within a sector experiencing exponential growth, outpacing traditional agrochemicals by fivefold.

The partnership will promote innovation and digitalisation of PMFBY and strengthen risk financing for a resilient farm sector in India

United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Absolute Foods, a leading bioscience company specialising in agri-tech, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen the government of India’s flagship Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) and enhance the resilience of the farmers.

The partnership between UNDP India and Absolute Foods aims to enhance the implementation of the PMFBY and the Restructured Weather-Based Crop Insurance Scheme by building technical capabilities of the scheme and digitalising service delivery of crop insurance and agricultural credit processes to increase the reach and uptake of the schemes. It will also promote credit profiling of farmers, agri-entrepreneurs, and Farmer Producers Organisations (FPOs), for accurate crop loss assessment and risk evaluation to mobilise agriculture financing.

UNDP and Absolute Foods will also use advanced technology and data-driven solutions to facilitate farmland identification and enhance farm monitoring, R&D, and analytical capabilities to facilitate data-driven policymaking and fraud analytics, ensuring efficient and transparent delivery of government support to vulnerable farmers.

Speaking on the partnership, Agam Khare, Founder & CEO, of Absolute Foods, says, “There are around 150 million farmers in India. We feel privileged to partner with UNDP India to enhance the risk resilience and protection of the farming community in India. With this collaboration, we are moving one step closer to achieving our goal of empowering farmer communities & making agriculture climate resilient in India.”

UNDP has been working with the Ministry of Agriculture & Family Welfare since 2018. In 2022, UNDP’s technical support unit at the Ministry helped reach out to 1.71 crore farmers through various information, education, and communication (IEC) campaigns such as Crop

Insurance Week and organised more than 2.39 lakh Fasal Bima Pathshalas or crop insurance classroom sessions.

“Risk is an inherent part of agriculture and is one of the biggest roadblocks in improving the lives of farmer communities in India. This collaboration is an important step towards strengthening the risk and credit ecosystem for agriculture in India. UNDP India is committed to working with the government and partners to help farmers in India rise with resilience”, says Amit Kumar, Head, Sustainable and Inclusive Growth, at UNDP India.

Absolute, a bioscience company, has announced the launch of its biological agri-input business, Inera CropScience. The company’s crop-agnostic range of bio fertilisers, biostimulants, biocontrols, and seed coating products has been launched in India, where Inera aims to meet the needs of 20 per cent of the world’s population and the highest arable land of any single nation in the world.

Inera intends to capture a 20-30 per cent industry market share in subsequent years as the world rapidly adopts biologicals, with the CAGR in the US at 12 per cent, EU at 9 per cent, Asia at 11 per cent, and MEA at 10 per cent. The sector is gradually getting cluttered with me too markets, with fierce competition and multiple players making products that are already well established. However, fewer players in the biological sector are building innovative, high-quality products, which is the gap that Inera aims to fill.

Inera has made crucial strategic investments in expanding research and manufacturing capabilities to meet end-consumer’s demands. The speciality sector is gaining rapid momentum, and Inera intends to become a key market player in this sector, which is a triple-digit-billion-dollar market. To begin with, Inera will be going live across 16 states in India including Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Haryana etc with the help of local channel partners (distributors) who are being onboarded.
