Amul Dairy posts Rs 14,099 Cr turnover, marks 9.2% growth in FY25

Farmer-owned cooperative strengthens procurement, payouts, and animal health initiatives

Amul Dairy, officially known as the Kaira District Cooperative Milk Producers Union Limited, reported a robust turnover of Rs 14,099 crore in the last financial year, registering a 9.2 per cent year-on-year growth, reinforcing its steady expansion in India’s competitive dairy sector.

The performance was announced at the cooperative’s 79th Annual General Meeting held in Anand.

Amul Dairy currently works with over seven lakh milk producers, with more than four lakh farmers supplying milk on a daily basis. During the year, the cooperative achieved an average daily milk procurement of 48.16 lakh kilograms, underlining its scale and operational reliability.

In line with its farmer-first model, Amul increased payments to producers to Rs 1,028 per kilogram of fat, reflecting a 9.39 per cent increase over the previous year. The cooperative also extended insurance benefits exceeding Rs 2 crore to the families of more than 98 milk producers, reinforcing its commitment to farmer welfare.

Amul continued to invest heavily in animal breeding and health programmes. It utilized over 10 lakh doses of sex-sorted semen, the highest usage by any dairy cooperative in India, and received an ‘A’ grade certification from the Government of India for its semen station. In addition, 3,894 embryo transfers led to the birth of 618 high milk-yielding calves, strengthening long-term productivity.

Veterinary services remained a core focus, with Amul’s 14 veterinary centres treating approximately 6.96 lakh animals during the year. The cooperative also accelerated its digital initiatives by equipping over 2,000 cows with smart cow belts, enabling improved herd monitoring and management.

Geographically, Amul expanded milk procurement operations into West Bengal, Maharashtra, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, and Tamil Nadu, while initiating activities in Karnataka and Odisha, broadening its national footprint.

Infrastructure upgrades at Anand included the installation of new RO plants and automatic milk sampling facilities, aimed at improving quality control and operational efficiency.

The strong financial performance and sustained investments highlight Amul Dairy’s ability to combine scale, farmer welfare, and technology-led innovation, reinforcing its position as a cornerstone of India’s cooperative dairy model.
