The IA 50 is the first publicly available database made up of private debt and equity impact investing fund managers across a wide range of geographies and impact areas of focus.

Omnivore, an impact venture capital firm focused on agritech, announced today that it has been selected for ImpactAssets’ prestigious ’IA 50 Impact Fund’ listing. The IA 50 is the first publicly available database made up of private debt and equity impact investing fund managers across a wide range of geographies and impact areas of focus.

Omnivore funds entrepreneurs building the future of agriculture and food systems. The firm pioneered agritech investing in India and is the only impact investor in South Asia focused entirely on agriculture. Omnivore has backed over 25 start-ups since 2011, and currently manages INR 9.35 billion (approximately $130 million) across two funds. Every day, Omnivore portfolio companies drive agricultural prosperity and transform food systems across India, making farming more profitable, resilient, and sustainable.

Omnivore has built a reputation over the past decade as the preferred investor for agritech startups in India, given the firm’s deep sector expertise and catalytic value addition. Many of Omnivore’s investments have managed to scale massively, despite the challenges of operating in rural India. Notable portfolio companies include Stellapps, which is digitizing India’s dairy industry, as well as DeHaat, which has become India’s largest full-stack farmer platform.

The ImpactAssets 50 2021 (IA 50) is an online database for impact investors, family offices, financial advisors, and institutional investors that features a diversified listing of private capital fund managers delivering social and environmental impact as well as financial returns.

“We are thrilled to be selected for the IA 50,” said Mark Kahn, Managing Partner of Omnivore. “It’s great to see ImpactAssets recognize the potential for agritech start-ups to transform the lives of smallholder farmers and rural communities across India.”

Jennifer Kenning, IA 50 Senior Investment Advisor and CEO Align Impact, said, “As impact investing continues its inexorable rise, it is critical to provide investors with a curated, objective evaluation of impact fund managers. The IA 50 is built to filter out the noise that is growing louder in impact investing and help investors focus on deep, meaningful impact.”
