Modi Biotech has received an order of Rs.300 crores for 41,600 Kl of ethanol from various Oil Manufacturing Companies (OMCs)

Modi Biotech Private Limited (MBPL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Modi Naturals Limited, is accelerating its growth trajectory with a significant expansion of its production capacity. To achieve this, the company is investing in cutting-edge infrastructure and innovative technology. As part of this expansion, Modi Biotech Private Limited (MBPL) has already placed orders and commenced construction on a new project, which will add a significant 180 KLD to its existing capacity of 130 KLD. Upon completion, MBPL’s total production capacity will increase to 310 KLD, enabling the company to meet the growing demand for biofuels and further solidify its position as a leading player in the industry.” This ambitious endeavour comes with a capital expenditure of Rs.100 crores and is slated for completion within 8-10 months.

This development is a testament to Modi Biotech’s commitment to driving growth and innovation in the biofuel sector. The company’s existing 130 KLD grain-based ethanol distillery, accompanied by a 5 MW captive power generation plant, has already established its presence in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. Modi Naturals Ltd. (MNL), through its wholly owned subsidiary Modi Biotech Private Limited (MBPL), has announced the inauguration of its state-of-the-art ethanol distillery in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. The inauguration ceremony was graced by the presence of Anil Modi, CMD of the company, Vijay Gupta, MD Beekay Engineering and Sudhir Halwasiya, Alok Garg, Mrs Aditi Modi, Akshay Modi, Directors of MNL.

The Ethanol Plant, an initiative of MNL’s subsidiary, MBPL, represents a significant stride towards a sustainable future. With a state-of-the-art distillery boasting a robust production capacity of 210 KLD (thousand litres per day) and a 5.5 MW cogeneration power plant, this facility is poised to profoundly impact the biofuel landscape. Commenting on the commercialisation of the plant, Akshay Modi, Managing Director of Modi Naturals Ltd., said, “The commissioning of our Ethanol Plant represents an important moment in Indias drive for sustainable biofuels. The Central Government provided MBPL in-principle approval for ethanol production, emphasising its connection with the Ethanol Blended Petrol (EBP) programme, which is led by Indias visionary Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi. In tandem, an MOU with the Chhattisgarh government strengthens the commitment to this transformative project. Moreover, the industry tender period operates from November to October.

With the governments constant backing and programmes like the EBP programme, the Indian biofuel sector is set for a rapid expansion. According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), India will overtake the United States and Brazil as the worlds third-largest ethanol market by 2026. This dramatic growth highlights the critical significance of initiatives like MBPLs Ethanol Plant in ensuring Indias energy security, lowering carbon emissions, and establishing a sustainable future.
