APEDA announces breakthrough in agri-exports

The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, has announced that Vietnam has officially granted market access for the export of fresh grapes from India, effective May 6, 2026. This approval, communicated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (MoA&FW) and the Plant Production and Protection Department (PPD) of Vietnam, marks a significant milestone in India’s agricultural trade expansion and opens up a promising new market in Southeast Asia.

Phytosanitary Protocols for Export

Exports of fresh grapes to Vietnam will be subject to strict phytosanitary requirements. Grapes must follow a system approach for pest risk management, and an in-transit cold treatment at a pulp temperature of 1.1℃ for 15 consecutive days is mandatory. The Phytosanitary Import Requirement (PIR) document has been shared with exporters to ensure smooth compliance. “The export of fresh grapes to Vietnam is subjected to System Approach and in-transit cold treatment at a pulp temperature of 1.1℃ for 15 consecutive days,” the circular emphasizes, underscoring the importance of adherence to these standards.
