Five Indian Startups Driving Biodiversity and Sustainability Innovation on World Biodiversity Day

As climate resilience and ecological sustainability become increasingly important priorities, startups across India are developing solutions focused on sustainable farming, afforestation, carbon removal

On the occasion of World Biodiversity Day, several Indian startups are highlighting the growing role of innovation, regenerative agriculture, and ecosystem restoration in supporting environmental sustainability and biodiversity conservation.

As climate resilience and ecological sustainability become increasingly important priorities, startups across India are developing solutions focused on sustainable farming, afforestation, carbon removal, and environmentally responsible rural supply chains.

Among them, Hosachiguru is promoting regenerative farmland ecosystems through agroforestry, biodiversity-led farming, native tree plantations, and water conservation initiatives. The company focuses on restoring ecological balance while supporting long-term sustainable land stewardship.

Grow-Trees.com is working on large-scale afforestation and reforestation programmes across India through community-driven plantation initiatives aimed at restoring degraded landscapes, supporting wildlife habitats, and improving carbon sequestration.

Climate-tech startup Alt Carbon is focused on regenerative land-based climate solutions, including enhanced rock weathering and soil restoration efforts designed to support carbon removal while improving soil biodiversity and ecosystem health.

Meanwhile, Farmizen connects urban consumers with sustainably managed farms through community-supported farming models that encourage chemical-free agriculture, local food systems, and environmentally conscious farming practices.

Agrizy is strengthening agri-processing and rural supply chains by enabling sustainable sourcing and value-added agricultural ecosystems that support rural livelihoods while encouraging more efficient and environmentally responsible agricultural operations.

Together, these startups reflect a broader shift within India’s entrepreneurial ecosystem toward business models that combine sustainability, biodiversity conservation, regenerative agriculture, and climate resilience with long-term economic and community development goals.
