BASF | Nunhems completes acquisition of Noble Seeds strengthening its vegetable seed footprint in India

Acquisition enhances pan-India coverage and expands the crop system with cauliflower and radish.

BASF’s vegetable seeds business has successfully closed its acquisition of Noble Seeds Private Limited. This follows the agreement announced in December 2025 and the completion of all the mandatory steps required for statutory approvals. As of today, Noble Seeds is officially a wholly owned subsidiary of Nunhems India Private Limited, and with it, part of BASF | Nunhems. For the next few years, Noble Seeds will continue to operate as an independent company.

The acquisition strengthens the companies’ long term growth ambitions in India’s dynamic vegetable seed market. Noble Seeds adds strong genetics, particularly in cauliflower and radish, and complements existing BASF | Nunhems strengths in hot pepper, watermelon, gourds and tomatoes, enabling a more complete offer for Indian growers.

Strong local continuity

“India is one of the most important and fast-moving vegetable seed markets in the world,” said Maximilian Becker, Senior Vice President BASF | Nunhems. “With Noble Seeds now part of the BASF | Nunhems family, we strengthen our footprint across India and expand our crop system with locally relevant varieties. We warmly welcome our new colleagues and look forward to building on Noble Seeds’ strong farmer relationships and deep local expertise.”

Noble Seeds has built a strong presence in North India and close relationships with growers and distributors. Combined with BASF | Nunhems’ established position in the South, the acquisition enables pan-India coverage and more tailored support for farmers across diverse regions.
