NDDB and Mother Dairy step up efforts to strengthen regional dairy sector

The National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), in partnership with Mother Dairy, has announced the second phase of its dairy development project across 19 districts in Vidarbha and Marathwada, aiming to strengthen the region’s dairy sector and boost farmers’ incomes.

Under the initiative, farmers will receive high milk-yielding cows and buffaloes, along with animal reproductive supplements and feed additives designed to enhance milk fat and SNF (solids-not-fat) content. The project also provides subsidies for perennial fodder cultivation, electric chaff cutters, silage, and modern dairy management training to increase productivity and generate self-employment.

The decision follows a meeting in New Delhi between Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and State Minister Pankaja Munde, focusing on promoting milk collection, fodder cultivation, and agrarian resilience in regions historically affected by farmer distress.

The initiative builds on the success of the first phase, which covered 11 districts, and is expected to play a pivotal role in financially empowering farmers, expanding the population of milch animals, and strengthening milk production networks across Vidarbha and Marathwada.
