Girjapur Sewa Samiti and Dhanuka Agritech champion modern farming at Halliya Workshop

In a determined push to empower the farming community with knowledge, technology, and modern agricultural practices, Girjapur Sewa Samiti, in collaboration with Dhanuka Agritech Ltd., hosted a Block-Level Farmers’ Workshop at Shiv Marriage Lawn, Halliya. Themed “Transforming India through Agriculture,” the event drew hundreds of farmers, cooperative leaders, scientists, and agricultural department officials from across the region.

The gathering was presided over by Arun Singh, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and National General Secretary of the BJP, who attended as Chief Guest, with Dr. R.G. Agarwal, Chairman Emeritus of Dhanuka Agritech Ltd., serving as Guest of Honor. Other notable attendees included Shri Vikram Singh, Deputy Director Agriculture, Mirzapur, along with chairmen of cooperative banks, progressive farmers from multiple villages, and agricultural experts.

Addressing the assembly, Arun Singh praised the farmers of Uttar Pradesh for their resilience and vital role in sustaining India’s food security. He urged the younger generation to return to agriculture with dignity, stating that working on one’s own land offers far greater respect than small urban jobs. He assured the audience that the government would protect farmer interests and resist any international trade agreements that could harm Indian agriculture. Singh underscored that the future of farming lies in technology adoption, innovation, and collective farmer action — essential steps toward making India self-reliant.

Dr. R.G. Agarwal, warmly addressing what he called his “farmer brothers,” emphasized that agriculture remains the nation’s core identity and should be carried forward with pride. He referenced Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s iconic slogan “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan,” later expanded to “Jai Vigyan,” and noted that under the current Prime Minister’s leadership, agriculture enjoys a renewed emphasis on research, technology, and innovation. Dr. Agarwal called upon farmers to follow three guiding principles — Khet Bachao, Ped Lagao, Prithvi Bachao (Save Fields, Plant Trees, Protect the Earth) — as a blueprint for protecting soil health, the environment, and long-term productivity. He urged the use of green manure (hari khad) and organic cow dung manure (gobar khad) to replenish soil fertility, and advocated for responsible, need-based herbicide application, warning that unchecked weed growth can sometimes conceal early pest infestations.

He cautioned farmers against counterfeit agricultural products, advising them to verify authenticity via QR-code scanning, and offered practical pest management solutions for crops like paddy and maize. His technical recommendations included the appropriate use of products such as Kelaya and Mycorrhiza-based biofertilizers, adherence to precise dosage levels, and integrated spraying practices of 100–150 litres per acre. Dr. Agarwal also urged soil testing for every farm, highlighting that careful adherence to soil-specific recommendations could substantially boost yields.

Highlighting the underutilized potential of Uttar Pradesh’s agriculture, Dr. Agarwal pointed out that despite the state’s fertile land and river systems, significant yield gaps remain. For example, while the state’s record sugarcane yield is an impressive 284 tonnes per hectare, the average yield stands at only 84 tonnes. Through its MoU with ICAR, Dhanuka is working to close this gap by transferring advanced cultivation techniques directly to farmers.

The workshop also featured local farmer leader Ram Singh of Madwa, who spoke on cost-effective farming methods involving green manure, cow dung manure, and balanced nutrient use. Agricultural officials provided guidance on key government schemes such as PM-Kisan, Aadhaar–land linking, and certified seed procurement. Dhanuka’s technical team conducted live demonstrations of pest and weed control methods, integrated pest management solutions, and modern spraying techniques. Progressive farmers and distributors from villages including Kotar, Naugawa, Neveda, Barua, and Bhardwa were honored for their contributions, and distinguished experts such as Prof. K.R. Patel received special recognition for their scientific work.

Beyond this workshop, Dhanuka Agritech continues to run nationwide initiatives aimed at modernizing Indian agriculture. In Uttar Pradesh, the company is focusing on closing yield gaps in key crops through technology transfer, training, and field demonstrations under its ICAR partnership. Collaborations with ATARI and Krishi Vigyan Kendras in states such as UP, Rajasthan, and Haryana are enabling the spread of modern cultivation practices across pulses, maize, cotton, and other crops. On the national stage, Dhanuka has rolled out a digital outreach programme featuring educational videos, posters, and infographics in regional languages to raise awareness on best practices, genuine product use, and advanced pest management techniques. By combining grassroots engagement with institutional partnerships and tech-enabled communication, Dhanuka is reinforcing its long-term commitment to making Indian agriculture more sustainable, profitable, and progressive.
