Uttar Pradesh has achieved a significant breakthrough in boosting farm exports with the airlifting of 1,200 kilograms (400 boxes) of Dussehri mangoes to Dubai, officials announced Sunday. The $ 2,992 consignment, dispatched from Lucknow’s Mango Pack House to Dubai-based importer Vergro Trading LLC, opens promising new avenues for the state’s mango growers in the international market.
The shipment was flagged off by Dinesh Pratap Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Horticulture, Agricultural Marketing, and Agricultural Foreign Trade. The mangoes were sourced from three Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) in the Lucknow region trained under the Indo-German AMD Project, which aims to empower local farmers for agricultural exports.
Among the FPOs, Irada Farmers Producer Company Limited and Malihabad Farmer Producer Company Limited have independently secured direct export orders for Dussehri mangoes from Dubai, marking a historic first for the state’s mango sector.
This milestone highlights Uttar Pradesh’s growing stature as a key player in the global mango trade and promises enhanced income opportunities for local farmers.
