The first international agriculture hackathon in India will be held in Pune by the Maharashtra government. Agriculture and agro-based sectors are the backbone of the nation’s economy, according to Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, who presided over the discussion on Saturday over the proposed agri hackathon.

He stated that the efficient application of technology like artificial intelligence (AI) in the agricultural sector will be pushed in order to empower the state’s farmers.

The Department of Agriculture, Maharashtra State; Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth; and the College of Agriculture Pune are supporting the event, which is scheduled for June 1–3.

The hackathon aims to be the largest gathering of leaders, innovators, policymakers, and thinkers in the agricultural sector. It will provide a lively platform for cooperation and the creation of innovative, scalable, and reasonably priced solutions to the pressing issues facing Indian agriculture. The hackathon will foster creative thinking, fresh perspectives, and interdisciplinary collaboration on topics ranging from supply chain optimization and Agri-fintech to climate resilience and sustainable farming.

“This hackathon is a step which will help the integration of technology with agriculture,” stated Jitendra Dudi, the district collector for Pune. We wish to prepare young minds to create scalable solutions in order to support farmers, increase output, and ensure food security.
