Recently, at the Centre of Excellence for Vegetables, Indo-Israel Project, at Gharounda, Karnal, Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana met with a high-level Israeli team. Collaboration in contemporary horticultural methods was the primary focus. The Israeli team was then invited by Rana to demonstrate the technologies that the center has been developing over the past 14 years. The minister added that since hydroponics and aeroponics utilize less land and water, we need Israel’s assistance in promoting these cutting-edge farming technologies.
In order to enhance horticultural techniques in the state, the minister further mentioned that five of the six centers of excellence under the Indo-Israel Agriculture Scheme have been operating in Haryana. Soon, the sixth center will be unveiled. Israel’s cutting-edge technological know-how, which helped Haryana raise yield and promote sustainable agriculture, was valued by Rana.
Israel’s Ambassador to India Reuven Azar and Deputy Director General of Foreign Trade and International Cooperation Yakov Poleg were among the members of the Israeli delegation, which was headed by Agriculture and Food Security Minister Avi Dichter. Haryana officials, including Additional Chief Secretary Raja Sekhar Vundru, greeted them.
Due to the decreasing amount of farmland and increasing water shortages, the delegation observed the polyhouse at the center and discussed contemporary techniques, emphasizing vertical farming. By assisting farmers in implementing cutting-edge methods like water-saving technologies in agriculture under the direction of Israeli specialists, this project would strengthen Haryana’s horticultural industry.
