Total tractor sales (Domestic + Exports) during September 2024 were at 44256 units, as against 43210 units for the same period last year.

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.’s Farm Equipment Sector (FES), part of the Mahindra Group, today announced its tractor sales numbers for September 2024.Domestic sales in September 2024 were at 43201 units, as against 42034 units during September 2023.Total tractor sales (Domestic + Exports) during September 2024 were at 44256 units, as against 43210 units for the same period last year. Exports for the month stood at 1055 units.

Commenting on the performance, Hemant Sikka, President – Farm Equipment Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said “We have sold 43201 tractors in the domestic market during September, a growth of 3 per cent over last year. Monsoon rainfall has seen an increase of 7.5 per cent over LPA and this has helped increase in Kharif sowing of all crops except cotton. Reservoir levels have recovered very well and are now at 13 per cent higher than LPA, which augurs very well for a bumper Rabi crop. On the back of good kharif crop and likely strong Rabi crop, rural sentiments are positive. With positive terms of trade for farmers and upcoming festivals, we expect robust demand for tractors going forward.   In the exports market, we have sold 1055 tractors.”

 Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.’s Farm Equipment Sector (FES), part of the Mahindra Group, announced its tractor sales numbers for August 2024. Domestic sales in August 2024 were at 20518 units, as against 20647 units during August 2023. Total tractor sales (Domestic + Exports) during August 2024 were at 21917 units, as against 21676 units for the same period last year. Exports for the month stood at 1399 units.

Commenting on the performance, Hemant Sikka, President – Farm Equipment Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said, “We have sold 20518 tractors in the domestic market during August. The cumulative monsoon rainfall is normal to above normal in Southern, central, western, and most northern states, while it has been deficient in few eastern and northeastern states. Reservoir levels have improved substantially and Kharif sowing for paddy, pulses, oil seeds and sugarcane has progressed very well and higher than last year. The upcoming festive season, above normal monsoon, bumper Kharif harvest and favourable terms of trade for farmers are likely to drive growth of tractor industry going forward. In the exports market, we have sold 1399 tractors, a growth of 36% over last year.”

Total tractor sales (Domestic + Exports) during June 2024 were at 47319 units, as against 44478 units for the same period last year. Exports for the month stood at 1431 units.

Commenting on the performance, Hemant Sikka, President – Farm Equipment Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said “We have sold 45888 tractors in the domestic market during June ’24, a growth of 6 per cent over last year. The government’s announcement of increased foodgrain production, an increase in MSP for major Kharif crops, and further advancement of the Southwest monsoon across the country brings positive sentiments with farmers. With retail momentum having picked up, supported by land preparation and an increase in Kharif crop sowing, demand for tractors is likely to remain strong in the upcoming months. In the export market, we have sold 1431 tractors, a growth of 28 per cent over last year.”

Domestic sales in April 2024 were at 35805 units, as against 35398 units during April 2024.

Total tractor sales (Domestic + Exports) during April 2024 were at 37039 units, as against 36405 units for the same period last year. Exports for the month stood at 1234 units.

Commenting on the performance, Hemant Sikka, President – Farm Equipment Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said “We have sold 35805 tractors in the domestic market during April 2024, a growth of 1 per cent over last year. The government’s Wheat procurement operations are going on in full swing with good mandi arrivals, keeping the rural cash flows healthy. IMD’s forecast of above-normal monsoon rains and festivals in April has helped bring positivity to rural sentiments. Terms of trade continue to stay positive and good cash flows from Rabi harvest are likely to boost tractor demand in the coming months. In the exports market, we have sold 1234 tractors a growth of 23 per cent over last year.”

Mahindra Tractors, part of the Mahindra Group and the world’s largest tractor manufacturer by volume, has achieved a milestone by selling the brands 40th Lakh tractor, inclusive of exports in March 2024. The Mahindra Yuvo Tech Plus, based on Mahindra’s next-generation Yuvo tractor platform, marks this milestone, having rolled-out from Mahindra’s Zaheerabad facility, Mahindra’s youngest tractor facility and a global production hub for Mahindra Tractors.

Having rolled out its first tractor in 1963 through a partnership with International Harvester Inc. of the U.S., Mahindra Tractors surpassed the 1-Million-unit production mark in 2004 and then went on to claim the title of the world’s highest-selling farm tractor manufacturer by volume in 2009. 9-years later in 2013, Mahindra reached the 2-Million-unit production milestone, followed by the 3- Million mark in 2019. Just 5-years later in FY’24, Mahindra Tractors proudly sold its 40th lakh tractor. Throughout the financial year, the Mahindra Tractor brand also achieved robust sales of over 2 Lakh units.

Domestic sales in March 2024 were at 24276 units, as against 33622 units during March 2023. Total tractor sales (Domestic + Exports) during March 2024 were at 26024 units, as against 35014 units for the same period last year. Exports for the month stood at 1748 units.

Commenting on the performance, Hemant Sikka, President – Farm Equipment Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said “We have sold 24276 tractors in the domestic market during March 2024. Government announcement of increased advance estimate of horticulture production and Rabi wheat output higher than last year is expected to bring positive sentiments among farmers. Forecast of a normal South -West monsoon this year is expected to further boost tractor demand in the coming months.  In the exports market, we have sold 1748 tractors, a growth of 26 per cent over last year.”

The initiative is expected to attract enthusiastic participation, enabling Swaraj to connect with over 50,000 customers directly.

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.’s Farm Equipment Sector (FES), part of the Mahindra Group, announced its tractor sales numbers for February 2024.Domestic sales in February 2024 were at 20121 units, as against 24619 units during February 2023. Total tractor sales (Domestic + Exports) during February 2024 were at 21672 units, as against 25791 units for the same period last year. Exports for the month stood at 1551 units.

Commenting on the performance, Hemant Sikka, President – Farm Equipment Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said “We have sold 20121 tractors in the domestic market during February 2024. Southern and western states continue to face agri stress due to erratic and deficient monsoon. However, Rabi crop outlook is very good, with wheat crop likely to be a bumper crop. Harvesting has started in few states with the government supporting early procurement of wheat crop. Continued government support through various rural schemes and enhanced institutional credit will further help boost tractor demand going forward. In the export market, we have sold 1551 tractors, a growth of 32 per cent over last year.”

Domestic sales in January 2024 were at 22972 units, as against 27626 units during January 2023. Total tractor sales (Domestic + Exports) during January 2024 were at 23948 units, as against 28926 units for the same period last year. Exports for the month stood at 976 units.

Commenting on the performance, Hemant Sikka, President – Farm Equipment Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said “We have sold 22972 tractors in the domestic market during January 2024. Retail momentum slowed down on account of tapering of agricultural activities. Rabi crop output is expected to be good with prevailing cold conditions helping the key crop of wheat. Government announcement of a good estimate of Horticulture production, and continued government support to boost rural economy will aid positive sentiments and support tractor demand in the coming months. In the exports market, we have sold 976 tractors.”

Workmen will be assigned to Mitsubishi Mahindra Agricultural Machinery in Shimane, Japan, for a year-long on-the-job training program.

Mahindra Farm Division, part of Mahindra’s Farm Equipment Sector and India’s No.1 tractor brand, marked a significant milestone in its commitment to skill development and globalisation, by dispatching its first group of ten skilled workmen to Japan under Japan’s Technical Intern Training Program (TITP).

Flagged off by Hemant Sikka, President – Farm Equipment Sector (FES), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., and other dignitaries from Mahindra FES from the company’s facility in Kandivali, Mumbai, the 10 Mahindra workmen selected for this initiative represents Mahindra’s tractor manufacturing facilities in Zaheerabad, Nagpur, and Rudrapur.

With the support of the Government of Japan, these individuals will receive mandatory training in Nagoya, Japan, for 4-6 weeks. Subsequently, they will be assigned to Mitsubishi Mahindra Agricultural Machinery in Shimane, Japan, for a year-long on-the-job training program. The workmen also successfully completed mandatory training sessions in Japanese cultural sensitivity, encompassing 17 days of in-person classroom sessions and 370 hours of online training.

Speaking on the occasion, Hemant Sikka said “At Mahindra FES, our purpose truly drives us, and we take immense pride in fostering an inclusive workplace that empowers our people to reach their fullest potential to achieve that purpose. Japan’s TITP program is a vital channel for realizing this vision. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to our program partners, as well as the Governments of India and Japan for their support.”

 Sikka further added, “Through the meticulous selection of our first batch of ten individuals from diverse Mahindra Tractor manufacturing locations, our aim is to bolster their technical expertise and knowledge through invaluable on-the-job internships in Japan. Upon return, these workmen will implement the best Japanese shop floor practices in our plants.”

TITP initiated in 1993, is Japan’s pioneering program aimed at facilitating skills transfer and international cooperation by providing on-the-job training to individuals from developing countries. The program plays a pivotal role in promoting human resource development and fostering economic growth in participating regions.

India’s Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) with Japan’s Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare in October 2017, ushering in a new era of collaboration in the skill development sector between the two nations. Under this program, select candidates from India embark on three-to-five years of internship in Japan, followed by their return to India to apply the acquired skills for the betterment of both countries. In January 2018, MSDE entrusted the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) with the responsibility of overseeing the program.

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd’s Farm Equipment Sector (FES), part of the Mahindra Group, has announced that its domestic tractor sales were at 47,100 units for September 2022 as against 39,053 units during the same period last year.

The total tractor sales including domestic and exports during September 2022 were at 48,713 units, as against 40,331 units for September 2021. Exports for the month stood at 1,613 units.

Commenting on the performance, Hemant Sikka, President – Farm Equipment Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said, “We have sold 47,100 tractors in the domestic market during September 2022, a growth of 21 per cent over last year. This is our highest ever sale in a month. Demand remained strong during the month owing to festive boost, which we expect to continue in October as well. With Kharif crop harvest starting soon and crop prices holding firm, the sentiment is positive. Above normal monsoon has improved the reservoir levels, leading to high moisture content in the soil, which is very positive for higher food grain production in the upcoming Rabi season. In the exports market, we have sold 1,613 tractors with a growth of 26 per cent over last year”.
