The highly competitive annual award attracted participation from thousands of promising startups across the world. Garuda Aerospace emerged victorious post a rigorous selection process involving multiple rounds. Marking its 14th year, the TiE50 awards have been a hallmark of identifying and honoring the most impactful and disruptive technology-enabled startups.

Garuda Aerospace will be felicitated at the grand stage with the TiE50 winner trophy at the TiEcon 2024. TiEcon is a premier global tech conference designed for leading entrepreneurs, corporate executives, and investors.

Garuda Aerospace, a leading drone manufacturer in India, has announced its collaboration with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), a premier space agency. This partnership will see ISRO procuring Garuda Aerospace’s advanced Quadcopter drones, marking the company’s foray into the space-tech category.

Garuda Aerospace is renowned for its cutting-edge drone technology, incorporating machine learning and artificial intelligence. The integration of these drones into ISRO’s operations is expected to enhance efficiency across various tasks undertaken by the space agency.

The collaboration between Garuda Aerospace and ISRO began with ISRO sampling the company’s drones in 2021 for the delivery of medicines and food supplies. Subsequently, Garuda Aerospace’s drones were also used for sanitizing building premises with the spraying of disinfectants during the COVID-19 pandemic. These successful trials played a pivotal role in Garuda Aerospace securing the order from ISRO for Quadcopter drones.

Garuda Aerospace, founded in 2015, has grown from a team of 5 to over 200 members. It boasts the largest drone fleet in India, with over 400 drones and 500 pilots operating in 84 cities. Garuda Aerospace is proud to announce that over 500 women have been empowered through its comprehensive training programs in drone technology. These programs have not only equipped women with essential skills but have also fostered an environment where they can thrive in traditionally male-dominated fields.

Through initiatives like the Namo Drone Didi Yojana, Garuda Aerospace has played a pivotal role in promoting gender equality and economic empowerment in rural communities. Garuda Kisan Drones are most advanced with autopilot features making them very easy to learn and use. Over 20 states across India have been positively impacted by the distribution of over 446 drones to women’s Self-Help Groups (SHGs), enabling them to become key players in agricultural innovation and sustainability. Garuda Aerospace has gifted a drone to one deserving drone didi in this initiative. After completing the training, these women can earn upto 50 thousand rupees to 70 thousand rupees per month with their drone skills.

Focused on positively impacting India’s agriculture sector, Garuda Aerospace continues to expand its market share through partnerships and collaboration. Supporting Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s visionary initiative to empower women-led Self Help Groups (SHGs), Garuda Aerospace announces that it has secured an order of a total of 500 Garuda Kisan Drones from 10 leading fertiliser companies under the NaMo Drone Didi scheme.  National Fertilisers Limited (NFL), Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilisers (RCF), The Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore (FACT), Hindustan Urvarak & Rasayan Limited (HURL), KRIBHCO Fertilisers, Gujarat State Fertilisers & Chemicals (GSFC), Brahmaputra Valley Fertiliser Corporation (BVFCL), Matix Fertilisers & Chemicals, Paradeep Phosphates (PPL) and Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilisers (MCF) are the 10  companies which have placed an order for Garuda Aerospace’s Kisan drones under the scheme.

Garuda Aerospace’s Kisan drones can support with spraying of fertilisers and pesticides. Given its precision capabilities, Kisan drones can reduce the quantity of pesticides used in addition to eliminating long exposures to harmful chemicals. Kisan drones are equipped with AI, ML and GPS sensors to help farmers with accurate and real-time information about their crops and farms. The drones also reduce the use of water and are equipped to cover large farming areas in a relatively shorter time. Garuda Kisan Drones can help increase crop yield by 60 per cent and reduce loss of crop by 20 per cent.

Dual certification will enhance Garuda Aerospace’s capabilities, allowing them to advance their training and manufacturing efforts in drone technology.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has granted Garuda Aerospace authorisation for Remote Pilot Training Organization (RPTO) for Small and Medium Class drones. This recognition makes Garuda Aerospace the sole drone company in India with a dual certification for both training and manufacturing of small and medium class drones. This dual authorization enhances Garuda Aerospace’s capabilities, allowing them to advance their training and manufacturing efforts in drone technology, said the company in the statement.

The DGCA’s approval not only fortifies Garuda Aerospace’s commitment to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Namo Drone Didi’ initiative, empowering 15,000 women Self Help Groups with agricultural drones but also supports the company’s goal of training 100,000 youth across India as drone pilots.

Additionally, the certification aligns with Garuda Aerospace’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) initiative, particularly the Equality Drone Training Program benefiting individuals with disabilities.

Garuda Aerospace’s array of small and medium drones caters to diverse applications. Small drones are well-suited for surveillance, monitoring, and photography, while medium drones excel in tasks like agricultural mapping, spraying, infrastructure inspection, delivery services, and emergency response.

While commenting on DGCA’s dual certification, Agnishwar Jayaprakash, Founder and CEO emphasised Garuda Aerospace’s commitment to excellence and its vision for the company and the nation. He believes that drones hold transformative potential across various sectors and anticipates that the DGCA certifications, coupled with government support, will accelerate the adoption of drones in India, positioning the country as a global hub.

Garuda Aerospace, in support of various initiatives, recently showcased over 1000 drones during the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra. With earlier Type Certificates and RPTO Authorization for Garuda Kisan Drones, and a second Type Certification for medium class drones. Garuda Aerospace donates Rs 1 crores worth of free Kisan Drones to Kaushalya – The Skill University, Gujrat for specialised training programs in agriculture and skilling.

Garuda Aerospace, India’s leading drone manufacturer, and Kaushalya – The Skill University have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to boost drone technology education in India.

Under the terms of the MoU, Garuda Aerospace commits to providing Kaushalya – The Skill University with 10 small category agricultural drones, valued at approximately Rs 1 crore. These drones will be utilised for specialised training programs in agriculture, contributing to skill development in this crucial sector. Furthermore, Garuda Aerospace will offer mentorship support for drone technology to students and start-ups associated with the university. The collaboration extends beyond hardware support. Garuda Aerospace will provide the services of technical experts in the field of drones through online and offline channels. The company will also engage in collaborative research, indigenization, and product development with university faculties. In a bid to bridge the gap between training and employment, Garuda Aerospace will extend placement support to trainees undergoing drone training through the “Bharat Drone Association.”

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is signed between Kaushalya – The Skill University, Govt. of Gujarat, was formally signed in the esteemed presence of the Minister for Industry Small, Micro, and Medium Industries Kutir, Khadi, and Village Industries Civil Aviation Labour and Employment, Balvantsinh Rajput. The signing ceremony involved H.R. Suthar (IAS retd), representing Kaushalya – The Skills University, and Dr. Vijayakumar Rajarathinam, Chief Operating Officer of Garuda Aerospace Private Limited, Chennai.

Garuda and Ninjacart will also provide training and business opportunities to rural entrepreneurs in India’s villages.

Garuda Aerospace has partnered with Flipkart-backed agri-commerce start-up Ninjacart to bring disruptive tech innovation to the Indian agriculture sector. 

Through a strategic tie-up, both companies will offer short-term financing options to farmers, allowing them to access the latest drone technology at affordable prices. The use of drones in farmlands can not only help improve crop yields for farmers but also bring down input costs and increase farm-level efficiency. 

In addition to the technology, Garuda and Ninjacart will also provide training and business opportunities to rural entrepreneurs in India’s villages. The individuals will be trained on how to operate drones and made a part of pilots. Both start-ups claim that the rural youth can earn anywhere between Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 per month through these opportunities.

Garuda Aerospace currently has a fleet of 400 ‘made-in-India’ drones and a team of over 500 pilots across 84 cities in India. Ninjacart, meanwhile, works with over one lakh farmers across 150 villages and helps them improve their yield and income. Since 2020, Flipkart and Walmart have pumped $175 million into Ninjacart even as it pivoted from B2C to a B2B model.

India’s drone startup company, Garuda Aerospace, unveiled the first-ever carbon-neutral drone at the Indian Sustainability Lounge of the World Economic Forum 2023, which was being held from January 16 to 20 in Davos, Switzerland.

Garuda Aerospace will manufacture over 25,000 drones in the next 15 months and will revolutionize the agricultural sector. The agricultural Green Revolution 2.0 began after Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off 100 Kisan drones in 100 villages across India. This led to job opportunities for youth across India.

“It’s such a privilege to present Garuda Aerospace’s DGCA approved Made in India Carbon Neutral Drones and the ESG goal of impacting 1 billion Indians positively through drone technology at Davos 2023,” said CEO of Garuda Aerospace, Agnishwar Jayaprakash. 

Among other agendas of the WEF, start-ups and investments are the key ones. The launch of a sustainable drone which is carbon-neutral is also in line with WEF’s climate action goals. He spoke at an impactful panel discussion and highlighted progressive government policies and how the startup community is transforming India into a ‘Global Drone Hub’ by 2030.

Drone-as-a-Service (DaaS) company Garuda Aerospace, India’s leading drone manufacturing company signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Rallis India, a subsidiary of Tata Chemicals and, a leading player in the agriculture industry to spray pesticides on crops in Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh.

Rallis will supply pesticides and crop nutrients to Garuda Aerospace for a pilot demonstration and spraying of pesticides on fields through drones mainly in the state of Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh. The drone pilots will conduct demonstrations on approximately 1,000 acres of land on crops such as paddy, onion, Bengal gram, wheat, and vegetables.

This partnership between Garuda and Rallis India will help leverage the key strengths of both parties. While Garuda Aerospace is known to provide drone solutions in the agriculture sector, Rallis India is known for its penetrative distribution network for agrochemicals and seeds.

The partnership with Rallis India will demonstrate end-to-end drone service solution to farmers and the channel partners. This shall also make agri operations convenient for drone pilots to conduct better demonstrations for the farmers, Garuda Aerospace founder and CEO Agnishwar Jayaprakash said.

“With the technology revolution up on us, we are moving towards a tech-adapted environment rapidly. At Rallis India, we have initiated trials and experiments of our product approvals for label expansion for drone spray,” Rallis India Chief Operating Officer, S Nagarajan said.

Agri-drone startup Garuda Aerospace has announced that the company has partnered with Harare Institute of Technology and Nyangani Virtual University to offer drones-as-a-service to the agriculture industry in Zimbabwe.

Garuda has mentioned that its partnership with the technical institutes will facilitate the application of drones by both government and private sector in the African country. In agriculture, Garuda’s drones will be used for carrying out large scaling mapping, inspection and training to increase the agricultural output.

Recently Garuda has announced the completion of the plantation of 75 000 seeds using drones in partnership with Rotary Club Bombay and the Tamil Nadu Forest Department.

″We are constantly on the lookout for partnerships that enable us to deploy drones for agricultural applications that empower the ecosystem and the farmers, ″ Agnishwar Jayapraksh, founder and chief executive of Garuda Aerospace said in a statement.

Jayapraksh added that the objective of the new partnership is to add value to the agriculture ecosystem by providing them with drones that leverage artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) technologies.

The startup claims it has over 30 types of drones and offers 50 drone-based services including precision agriculture spray, damage inspection, warehouse management, seed dropping, cleaning of solar panels and delivery of medicines using drones. Some of the more common agricultural applications using drones include pest control, health monitoring, livestock management, soil analysis, and aerial survey.

Founded in 2015, Garuda is backed by Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The start-up raised US$30 million in a Series-A round last month at a valuation of US$250 million.
