IoTechWorld has been honoured with the distinguished Leaders of Tomorrow Season 11 award in the Technology category, organised by ET Now. 

Recognised as a trailblazer in agriculture drones, IoTechWorld proudly holds the 1st Type certificate from DGCA for its agriculture drone, AGRIBOT.


The event’s chief guest, the Union Commerce and Industry Minister, Piyush Goyal, presented the award to IoTech’s Co-Founder and Director, Deepak Bhardwaj. During his keynote address, Piyush Goyal remarked that this recognition collectively showcases a new India poised to offer startup opportunities and attract national and international investments.

The jury members at the event also acknowledged the pivotal role that technology is set to play in agriculture. Following the award presentation, Deepak Bhardwaj, IoTech’s Co-Founder and Director, expressed pride in the company’s technological prowess. He highlighted how their unique technology connection with agriculture, particularly through the Agri drone AGRIBOT, has empowered farmers to increase their income, distinguishing IoTechWorld in this category and earning them the prestigious award.

Drone manufacturer IoTechWorld Avigation said it has joined hands with Switzerland-based company Pix4D which specialises in photogrammetry software technology to jointly offer precision farming solutions in the country.

Commenting upon the tie-up between the two companies, Deepak Bhardwaj, Co-Founder and Director, of IoTechWorld Avigation said, “We are witnessing an agri-drone revolution in the country and gradually we are moving towards precision farming. Our association is to foster awareness about drone-enabled crop health monitoring.”

Underlining the objective of the association, Anoop Upadhyay, Co-Founder and Director, of IoTechWorld Avigation said, “Initially our approach involves the creation of awareness among Industry, Researchers, and Academia. Subsequently, we will create awareness among farmers as well.”

Expressing the rationale behind the association, Mitul Arora, Business Development Lead – India & South Asia, Pix4D said, “Everyone needs a customized and one-stop solution. IoTechWorld has drone technology and multi-spectral sensors by the name Sequoia and now they will have our photogrammetry technology too. So, through this association, a one-stop solution will be provided to all, and this will be beneficial for the govt research institutes, crop insurance and other associated specialised tasks.”

The event drew approximately 70 attendees, predominantly comprised of scientists from governmental institutions. Additionally, a cohort of researchers from esteemed crop protection firms, including Syngenta and BASF, also took part in the workshop.

To open 7 new RPTOs, Service centre by Jul’23 to serve a burgeoning market

IoTechWorld Avigation announced that they are in the process of setting up 7 remote pilot training organisations (RPTOs) in 5 states by Jul’23 as it aims to sell 3,000 drones this fiscal, up from 500 in the last fiscal.

Currently, the company has collaborated with several universities and other institutions for RPTOs. The new RPTOs too are being opened in partnership with prominent organisations.

The company set by Deepak Bhardwaj and Anoop Upadhyay is India’s 1st drone manufacturing firm to obtain DGCA Type Certificate (TC) for agri-drone AGRIBOT.

To provide after-sales service and expansion of its network, IoTechWorld will also open a new service centre for agri-drone in Kolhapur, Maharashtra.

Last month the company unveiled plans to expand its product line with the launch of a new type of agri-drone. The company has already showcased a more compact version of its famous drone AGRIBOT.

“2 of the upcoming RPTOs will be functional this month. These have come up at in Gharaunda (Haryana) and Jobner (Rajasthan),” said Deepak Bhardwaj, Co-founder & Director.

During the month of Jun 23 – 3 more RPTOs in Gurugram (Haryana), Chikballapur (Karnataka), and Samastipur (Bihar) will begin operation, he said and added the remaining 2 in Rajamundary and Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, will begin operations in Jul’23.

These RPTOs will have an annual capacity to train 360 budding drone pilots per location annually. The company has helped train 400+ pilots to date.        

 IoTechWorld has a presence in 12 states and will be expanding its footprints in newer geographies as well during the current fiscal.

 “We sold over 500 drones in the year 2022-23 and this year’s target is at least 3,000 drones. We have made a comprehensive plan to meet the target and even surpass it,” said Anoop Upadhyay, another Co-founder & Director of IoTechWorld Avigation Pvt Ltd.

Giving further details about the company’s strategy, he said opening 7 new Remote Pilot Training Organisations (RPTOs) will help IoTechWorld Avigation to train more pilots who can operate the drones safely and efficiently.

“We are excited about our plans and believe that they will strengthen IoTechWorld’s position in the agri-drone market in India. The company remains committed to providing high-quality agri- drones and excellent customer service to its valued customers as well as job opportunities for rural youths, Anoop Upadhyay said.

The company is extensively focusing on creating awareness about the benefits of using drones in agriculture. These agri-drones not only save time and money but also increase farm productivity. Besides, the use of drones in farming activities, like spraying pesticides over crops, has health benefits for farmers.

India’s leading Agri-drone manufacturer IoTechWorld Avigation and Agro-chemical major Syngenta India have jointly developed a sustainable DaaS business model and will launch the commercial spraying services across 4 major states – Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, and Haryana In the next season of Kharif & Rabi.

IoTechWorld & Syngenta have already conducted the drone Yatra in 13 states and demonstrated the benefits of agriculture drones to more than 1 lakh farmers in a 17,000 km yatra.

Already, a joint pilot activity using actual agrochemicals has been successfully conducted in Ludhiana, Punjab wherein farmers and agri-entrepreneurs were briefed about the benefits of using drone technology in spraying agrochemicals. 

Providing details about the plan, Co-Founders of IoTechWorld Deepak Bhardwaj & Anoop Upadhyay said, “We have joined hands with Syngenta India to facilitate drone spraying across India. We did a pilot in the state of Punjab and the response has been very encouraging. As a next step, both companies jointly plan to amplify the activities in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh & West Bengal. The idea is to highlight the benefits of spraying using drones to farmers and other stakeholders.”

Providing details on the business model, Saurabh Srivastava, General Manager – Sales of IoTechWorld Avigation, & Mahantesh Chulaki – Lead Operations, Syngenta India, said, the idea of this sustainable cluster-based DaaS business model is liked by many agritech & startups firms as it gives the surety of YOY spray demand from Syngenta which mitigate the risk of capital investment of drone service provider. Even financial institutions like SBI who are providing the capital loan up to 2Cr through the AIF scheme of GOI, are also very confident to disburse the loan as their risk is mitigated through assured business demand offered by Syngenta.

MoU aims at setting up Remote Pilot Training Organisation (RPTO) for agri drones

Leading agri-drone manufacturer IoTechWorld Avigation announced it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth (VNMKV), Parbani, Maharashtra to promote the use of unmanned aerial vehicles to boost farm productivity in the country.

This agreement by the Gurugram-based company with a leading academic institution for creating awareness among farmers about the use of technology for increasing farm output, besides furthering research in drone technology.  

Last month the agri drone manufacturing company has announced a similar tie-up with Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth (an Agriculture University), Rahuri, Maharashtra.

The latest MoU was signed by Dr Indra Mani, Vice Chancellor of VNMKV on behalf of the University, while Anoop Kumar Upadhyay, Co-Founder & Director signed on the behalf of IoTechWorld Avigation.

Upadhyay said IoTechWorld Avigation is at the forefront of promoting drone technology and partnerships with universities are aimed at furthering research activities. 

Giving details about the MoU with VNMKV, he said both parties will work in cooperation in science and technology and promote the use of drones in agriculture. 

“Both the signatories to the agreement will work together to develop an agricultural training centre and Remote Pilot Training Organization (RPTO) at VNMKV university,” he added.

Deepak Bhardwaj, Co-founder IoTechWorld said tie-ups with universities will help the company to further research in drone technology, besides creating awareness among farmer groups.

“The use of agri-drone is catching up among farmers and several farmers’ organisations have joined the campaign. These unmanned aerial robots are of great use as they not only help in saving cost, but time also,” he said. 

Another major objective of the tie-up is to the farmer with a friendly training module and create drone pilots at the proposed RPTO at the university.

IoTechWorld will be the technical partner in setting up of Remote Pilot Training Organisation (RPTO) for Agricultural Drones with VNMKV, which in turn will help reduce drone pilot shortage in the country, he added.

SBI will provide loans at the market rate to the customers of IoTech World Aviation without any mortgage, a 3 per cent concession in interest.

State Bank of India (SBI) and drone manufacturer IoTech World have come together to provide agri-drones to farmers at affordable prices and low loans. The two companies signed a formal agreement. The SBI will give loans at 3 per cent less than the market rate to the farmers, who buy agricultural drones from IoTech World Company.

Deepak Bhardwaj, the co-founder IoTech World, said that the SBI will provide loans at the market rate to the customers of IoTech World Aviation without any mortgage, a 3 per cent concession in interest. This exemption will be given under the Government of India’s Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF).

Bhardwaj said that Agri-drones will prove a boon for India’s agriculture sector. The loan facility provided by SBI will prove to be very helpful for those farmers who were not able to buy drones due to a lack of institutional finance facilities.”

Anup Upadhyay, IoTech World Navigation co-founder said drones help in the optimum use of fertilizers and pesticides in agriculture, thereby reducing the cost of farming. The use of agriculture-drone is not only helpful in increasing the yield, but also saves a lot of time. Agri-drones are going to prove a miracle for Indian agriculture. It is noteworthy that IoTech World Navigation was started in the year 2017. This company manufactures agricultural drones.

SBI will provide loans at the market

Leading agricultural drone manufacturer IoTechWorld Avigation Private Limited has revealed that it is aiming a multi-fold growth in both values and volume terms in the current fiscal. The Gurugram-headquartered company is targeting to sell more than 1,000 kisan drones during 2022-23 and is eyeing to capture a good share in the market, estimated to be Rs 5000 crore by 2025-26. 

To fund its growth, India’s first type certified drone manufacturer is in advanced talks with investors to raise funds, which will be utilised for expansion. Last year, the company raised around Rs 30 crore from leading agrochemical company Dhanuka Agritech. The company has also been selected for the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for Drone & Drone components by the government of India.

According to Deepak Bhardwaj and Anoop Upadhyay, Co-founders, IoTechWorld Avigation, the company is working to make all components indigenous within one to two years and is also developing village level entrepreneurs and service partners to increase employment.  “Clearly, the growth opportunity is humungous and IoTechWorld Avigation is likely to gain major share of the kisan drone market,” the founders added.

So far, the company has conducted many campaigns and drone yatra of 15000 km across India for educating farmers on the benefits of using drones in agriculture. It has centres in 12 states and will open a Remote Pilot Training Organisation (RPTO) with different state governments to offer low-cost pilot license course.

“IoTechWorld Avigation has launched a bike back drone model and new Lithium Ion batteries to reduce the cost of operating and increase the mobility of drones. ICAR, KVKs, state agri universities have procured drones from us and now we are enabling them so that they can give demonstration and can educate the local farmers,” said Bhardwaj and Upadhyay.

“Our company is working with almost all major plant protection chemical manufacturing companies and working to increase the bio-efficacy of all plant protection chemicals. We are also empanelled with various state governments like Madhya Pradesh,” they added.

As per a recent report by FICCI–EY, the drone market is likely to become $30 billion by 2030 and agriculture drone market is estimated to contribute around 30 per cent of the overall market share.
