BVT will provide technical grade CR-7 to BioSafe, who will develop and market end-use biological products for plant health and control of foliar and soil diseases.

Bee Vectoring Technologies International Inc. (BVT) and BioSafe Systems jointly announced a signed commercial agreement. BioSafe Systems, an industry leader in environmentally sustainable products, will offer a range of products based on BVT’s Clonostachys rosea CR-7 (CR-7) proprietary microbe for use in foliar and soil drench markets in the United States, with future options to expand into Mexico and other countries.

“This partnership with BioSafe is part of our corporate strategy to accelerate growth in new markets – both geographically and with product offerings beyond our core bee-vectoring applications,” said Ashish Malik, CEO of BVT. “It follows our January 2022 announcement of the MOU with BioSafe, and now has successfully moved into a commercial agreement after completing discussions and evaluations.”

“This is a significant development for the Company as it provides an opportunity to showcase the new range of our assets that can be scaled for a number of commercial applications,” continued Mr. Malik. “Our CR-7 franchise extends our Company’s reach beyond bee vectoring distribution and into the much larger market for foliar and soil-applied crop protection products. Furthermore, this method of application is the standard in the ag industry, and thus we anticipate broader acceptance of the bee delivery program as well as growers witness the benefits of CR-7 first-hand. This agreement with an established player in the US market, is the first step in our initiative to provide CR-7-based solutions to farmers through partnering companies that have large sales and marketing capabilities.”

BVT will provide technical grade CR-7 on a non-exclusive basis to BioSafe, who will develop and market end-use biological products for plant health and control of foliar and soil diseases. The new end-use products will build upon the expertise of both companies which have agreed to closely collaborate to expedite the time to market on all formulations and obtain any necessary regulatory requirements. The first product is expected to enter the market as early as the 2023 growing season.

BioSafe has a 23-year history as an innovator and industry leader of environmentally sustainable products, with an established distribution channel serving a broad customer base in the agriculture, greenhouse (including cannabis production), horticulture, post-harvest/food safety, aquatics, home and garden, turf, and commercial/industrial sanitation markets.

Brazil represents a great opportunity for BVT to further market a foliar and soil-applied version of CR-7

Canada based Bee Vectoring Technologies International Inc. has announced that the Company has been granted a patent for BVT’s Clonostachys rosea CR-7 microbial strain (CR-7) in Brazil for use as a biological control agent in agriculture.

The Brazil patent grant (Patent Number BR112016005139-4) recognizes the unique properties of BVT’s proven CR-7 strain. It covers the use of CR-7 in any application method, in any formulation (solid or liquid), for yield improvement, and for disease control.

Brazil represents a significant market opportunity for BVT across specialty and row crops. It has a vast diversity of fruit and vegetable crops and is also the largest soybean producer in the world, with an estimated 140 million tonnes grown annually on about 100 million acres. It is also the world’s largest soybean exporter, with annual exports estimated at 90 million tonnes.

“We are making significant advancements in soybean seed treatment in the United States, and extending the work into Brazil is the next logical step in scaling our business,” said Ashish Malik, CEO of BVT. “Brazil also represents a great opportunity for BVT to further market a foliar and soil-applied version of CR-7, and we are continuing to evaluate the opportunities for the bee vectoring process despite a more limited commercial pollination services industry compared to the United States.”

Malik also added that BVT’s inroads into Brazil are ground breaking. It’s rare for their authorities to allow a company to patent naturally-occurring microbial strains. The fact that we have been granted a patent for CR-7 speaks to how compelling and proprietary our technology really is. Having a patent-protected product paves the way for significant market entry opportunities with business partners in Brazil. It’s a key part of our strategy to strongly position BVT to capture global market share.”

BVT has had over 65 patents granted and currently has more than 35 pending in all major agricultural regions worldwide, including North America, South America, Europe, Asia and Australia.

The dossier included CR-7 trial data already completed in Mexico and studies into human safety, environmental impact, and product efficacy as required to support product registration.

Bee Vectoring Technologies International Inc. has announced that the Company has submitted its proprietary Clonostachys rosea CR-7 (CR-7) biological fungicide for registration in Mexico. The registration dossier was presented on April 19, 2022 at a meeting with COFEPRIS (The Federal Commission for Protection from Sanitary Risks), the Mexican health authority responsible for registration of plant protection products. The dossier included CR-7 trial data already completed in Mexico and studies into human safety, environmental impact, product efficacy and more, as required to support product registration.

This application is part of a 2022 program to submit in up to four new jurisdictions allowing the Company to significantly increase its geographic footprint and open new revenue streams.

“We’re anticipating a quicker review process as compared to chemicals in Mexico because CR-7 should be considered a low-risk product,” said Gerardo Suazo, Senior Technical Manager for Mexico at BVT. “However, registration timelines with Mexican health authorities have been experiencing delays due to pandemic-related labor shortages and the backlog of submissions making it hard to predict review timing.”

Mexico’s growers offer significant market potential for BVT’s natural precision agriculture system: official statistics indicate that the country’s production in 2019 included 41,600 acres of strawberries, 12,100 acres of blueberries and over 377,000 acres of tomatoes and peppers. In the same year, US imports of fresh and processed fruits and vegetables from Mexico amounted to US$15.6 billion.

“Mexico is a huge export market, and high-volume growers are keen to adopt low- or no-chemical solutions to fight diseases and increase crop yields,” said Ashish Malik, CEO of BVT. “The country uses US$1.3 billion worth of pesticides each year, but an increasing number of growers are turning to biologicals as an alternative that offers better quality, greater food safety and reduces the need for chemicals.”
