It is used as a pre, early post, and post-emergent herbicide to control weeds in sugarcane

Best Agrolife Limited a prominent Indian agrochemical company, announced that it had been granted a patent for its invention titled ‘Synergistic Herbicidal Composition of Triazine and Sulfonylurea Herbicides with Phenoxyacetic Herbicide’ for a term of 20 years. This new patent is a combination of Ametryn+2 and 4D+Halosulfuron methyl. It is used as a pre, early post, and post-emergent herbicide to control weeds in sugarcane.

“Sugarcane is of paramount importance to Indian agriculture and economy. India is the world’s largest producer and consumer of sugar, as well as the second-largest exporter of sugar. Unfortunately, due to the lack of efficient and safer herbicides, the country experiences a total loss of around 25 million tonnes of cane yield annually (equivalent to 2.5 million tonnes of sugar) valued at approximately Rs 1500 crores. Therefore, there is an urgent demand for more sustainable herbicides to control even the toughest weeds at all stages,” explained Vimal Alawadhi, Managing Director, Best Agrolife Ltd.

“Conventional herbicides could control weeds at certain growth stages by targeting only the leaf part of weeds and not the root. Furthermore, issues such as residue, volatility, and quick regrowth of weeds have been long-standing problems for sugarcane growers. With this new patent, we will be able to provide sugarcane growers with a more effective, efficient, and sustainable solution for all the aforementioned weed-related problems,” he added.

Halosulfuron-methyl, a sulfonylurea herbicide, can be absorbed by leaves and transferred to the underground parts of the plant, allowing it to kill both the overground leaves and the underground roots. In contrast, Ametryn is a triazine selective systemic herbicide for controlling annual grass weeds like crabgrass and green bristle grass and part of broad-leaf weeds in sugarcane fields. The halosulfuron-methyl and Ametryn mixture can kill grass weeds, broad-leaf weeds, and other stubborn weeds in pre, early, post, and post-emergent stages, resulting in improved sugarcane yield with high sugar content.

The global organic fertilisers market is expected to reach $19.88 billion by 2029, at a CAGR of 11.6 per cent during the forecast period 2022–2029

According to a new market research report titled, ‘Organic Fertilizers Market by Source (Animal, Plant, Mineral), Form (Dry, Liquid), Application Method (Broadcasting, Fertigation, Foliar Application), Crop Type (Cereals & Grains, Fruits & Vegetables), and Geography – Global Forecast to 2029’, the global organic fertilisers market is expected to reach $19.88 billion by 2029, at a CAGR of 11.6 per cent during the forecast period 2022–2029. Also, in terms of volume, the global organic fertilisers market is estimated to grow at a CAGR of 6.7 per cent during the forecast period to reach 38,570.5 KT by 2029.

The demand for organic fertilisers is growing across the globe. Organic agriculture serves multiple functions. It is an important tool to achieve ‘green productivity’ in agriculture. It also mitigates the negative impact of conventional input-intensive agriculture by excluding agrochemical inputs from the production system, minimising environmental pollution, promoting the reuse & recycling of organic farm waste and crop residues, improving biodiversity, and enhancing soil productivity.

Furthermore, the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the organic fertilisers market have been noticed since early 2020 in China, one of the world’s largest producers and consumers. The shutdown of production plants in China and restrictions on the export and import of organic fertilisers & raw materials, particularly animal waste to and from China’s restricted areas, affected the supply chain. This scenario impacted the production, sales, and operations of this industry. The pandemic affected the organic fertilisers market in many countries, including the US, India, Australia, Brazil, and the EU-5 countries. In India, many fertiliser plants have shut down or are operating at reduced capacity due to the countrywide lockdown leading to substantial losses in the domestic organic fertiliser production.

The global organic fertilisers market is expected

BAL had received the patent for Ronfen, which covers the composition of Pyriproxyfen 8 per cent, Diafenthiuron 18 per cent, and Dinotefuran 5 per cent in a unique suspension concentrate formulation

Best Agrolife Limited (BAL), one of the fastest-growing agrochemical company in India, has recently made two major announcements. The Central Insecticides Board & Registration Committee granted the registration for the indigenous manufacturing of the company’s much-awaited patented ternary insecticide to BAL u/s 9 (3) in the 437th RC meeting.

The company will launch it by the brand name Ronfen. BAL had received the patent for Ronfen, which covers the composition of Pyriproxyfen 8 per cent, Diafenthiuron 18 per cent, and Dinotefuran 5 per cent in a unique suspension concentrate formulation, in August last year. With this BAL has become the first Indian agrochemical company to manufacture this first-of-its-kind, three-way insecticidal combination that effectively controls the entire sucking pest complex in various stages in one shot.

Other than Ronfen, the leading agro-inputs company has also been granted the registration for the indigenous manufacturing of Dinotefuran 15 per cent + Pymetrozine 45 per cent WG along with technical manufacturing of Pyrithiobac Sodium u/s 9(4) TIM category in the same RC meeting. The company has decided to launch it with the brand name AxeMan.

“Sucking pests pierce plant parts, suck the plant sap which in turn results in minute white, brown, or red spotting on the leaves, fruits, or stems of the plant. It may also cause curling leaves, deformed fruit, general wilting, browning, and drying of the entire plant. Until now, safeguarding their crops from the sucking pests was a very costly business for the farmers in India and across the globe as they had to spend their hard-earned money on various pesticides. Motivated by a strong sense of urgency and eyeing the opportunity, our R&D team worked on developing a revolutionary one-shot solution for all the sucking pests and innovated Ronfen.” said Vimal Alawadhi, MD Best Agrolife Limited.

“Ronfen was under extensive scale field trials for the last two years. Due to its incredible power on the entire sucking pest complex Ronfen was much awaited by the farmers in India and abroad,” he added further.

On the other hand, AxeMan, with its dual mode of action, helps in protecting the rice crop from the devastating pest BPH which develops high resistance against all agrochemicals.  AxeMan provides healthy and vibrant tillers at the reproductive stage and helps in the long-duration control and resistance management of BPH in paddy.
