Uzbekistan has taken a decisive step toward climate-positive agriculture, designating 55,000 hectares for a national regenerative cotton initiative in partnership with the International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC) and Bizpando, a blockchain-enabled traceability platform redefining transparency in global supply chains. The move marks one of Central Asia’s largest coordinated shifts toward regenerative farming and positions Uzbekistan as an emerging leader in climate-aligned cotton production.
The collaboration began on the ground. From 21–23 October 2025, ICAC Chief Scientist Dr. Keshav Kranthi led an intensive training program at the Cotton Research Institute in Tashkent, blending classroom sessions with hands-on field demonstrations. The program drew 50 scientists and government officials, signalling strong institutional commitment. A follow-up field training in Jizzakh on 24 October, conducted by Dr. Kranthi and Agriculture Minister Dr. Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov, brought together 98 farmers, with Bizpando executives Jasper Bhowmick and Mark Li reinforcing the platform’s role in future carbon-credit workflows.
Momentum continued in Washington, DC, where Dr. Abdurakhmonov, accompanied by senior delegates Javlon Raimov and Abrorbek Kosimov, visited ICAC Headquarters. There, Dr. Abdurakhmonov, Dr. Kranthi, and Bizpando CEO Jasper Bhowmick formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding, cementing a multi-year collaboration spanning regenerative agriculture protocols, carbon market integration, and global traceability infrastructure.
Next steps are already underway. Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Agriculture, guided by Dr. Kranthi, is identifying and accrediting carbon testing laboratories to establish robust certification standards—critical groundwork for monetizing soil carbon gains. In parallel, Bizpando has begun onboarding registered farmers for carbon credit disbursal, with Mr. Li scheduled to return to Uzbekistan from 17–21 November 2025 to train farmers and officials on documentation, verification, and digital compliance.
Together, the Government of Uzbekistan, ICAC, and Bizpando are laying the foundation for a regenerative cotton ecosystem that blends scientific rigor, farmer empowerment, and blockchain-backed transparency—setting a new benchmark for sustainable cotton production worldwide.
