BASF to open global digital hub in Hyderabad, strengthening worldwide digital services network

New hub to enhance cost-efficient, scalable digital service delivery as part of BASF’s global transformation

BASF announced plans to open a global Digital Hub in Hyderabad in the first quarter of 2026, reinforcing the company’s worldwide Digital Hub network spanning Europe (Ludwigshafen and Madrid) and Asia Pacific (Kuala Lumpur). The new hub will further strengthen BASF’s Global Digital Services Division by consolidating digital capabilities in a cost-efficient location while enabling faster and leaner service delivery to businesses across the BASF Group.

Digital Hubs serve as centers of excellence, delivering standardized digital services at scale to BASF’s global operations. The Hyderabad hub is designed to sharpen BASF’s digital focus, improve efficiency, and support value creation across core businesses.

“With this next step in value creation in BASF’s back-end organization, we ensure digital service delivery on competitive terms,” said Dr. Dirk Elvermann, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Digital Officer, BASF SE. “Hyderabad offers all the attributes of a state-of-the-art Digital Hub with global reach. Seamless cooperation between the new hub in India and our existing Digital Hubs, alongside excellent service delivery to our businesses, will be our top priorities.”

As part of its broader digital strategy, BASF is also simplifying and standardizing its digital portfolio, concentrating investments on areas that generate the greatest value for its core businesses. These measures will be accompanied by structural changes within the Global Digital Services Division, including a significant reduction in the global workforce by 2030 and a reduction in the number of sites where digital specialists are located. BASF emphasized that all changes will be implemented in a socially responsible manner and in full compliance with existing co-determination rights, including in Ludwigshafen.

Preparations for the Hyderabad Digital Hub are already underway. Hiring and operational activities will begin immediately under a new Indian legal entity, BASF Digital Solutions Private Limited.

“I am pleased that we can launch the hub so quickly and ramp it up sustainably,” said Dietrich Spandau, President of Global Digital Services. “Our ambition is to build an attractive workplace that reflects BASF’s Winning Culture and enables high-performing global teams.”

The Hyderabad Digital Hub will become an integral part of BASF’s long-standing presence in India, complementing its existing manufacturing and research and development operations in the country.

“The new Digital Hub supports BASF’s ambition to work faster, leaner, and with a sharper focus on value creation,” said Alexander Gerding, Head of BASF Group Companies in India.

With the addition of Hyderabad, BASF continues to strengthen its global digital backbone while aligning its operations to meet evolving business and technology demands.
