Cargill has announced the appointment of Ravinder Balain as Country President for India, underscoring the company’s long-term commitment to one of its fastest-growing markets. Balain, who joined Cargill in 2024, will continue to serve as Senior Managing Director for Cargill’s Animal Nutrition & Health business while taking on expanded responsibilities to lead strategic collaboration across all Cargill enterprises and functions in India.
In his new mandate, Balain will oversee Cargill’s India operations and market growth, sharpen government and stakeholder engagement, and provide counsel to the company’s global executive team on India’s rapidly evolving business landscape. “India is a strategic growth market for Cargill, and I am honoured to lead our efforts here,” said Balain. “Our focus will be on deepening partnerships, driving innovation, and delivering sustainable solutions that support our customers and communities. Together, we will build on Cargill’s strong foundation and unlock new opportunities for growth.”
Balain brings more than three decades of global leadership experience to the role, including tenure as Managing Director for South Asia and Southeast Asia at Corteva Agrisciences (formerly DuPont), where he was instrumental in market creation and talent development. His appointment signals Cargill’s intent to double down on India as a growth engine for its global portfolio.
In a parallel move, Cargill named Dheeraj Talreja as Vice President and Managing Director for Food South Asia. Talreja will be responsible for advancing Cargill’s Food APAC strategy, with a focus on innovation, operational excellence, and enhanced customer engagement across the South Asia region.
Together, these appointments are aimed at reinforcing Cargill’s leadership presence in India and positioning the company to capture the next wave of growth in food and agriculture.
