Coromandel International Limited, one of India’s leading agri-solutions providers, has crossed a landmark in its retail journey with the inauguration of its 1000th Gromor retail store at Kashti Village in Ahilyanagar, Maharashtra. Operating under the brand name ‘Apla Gromor’, the store represents Coromandel’s deepening engagement with India’s farming community and its growing national footprint.
The milestone was celebrated in the presence of Arun Alagappan, Executive Chairman, and S. Sankarasubramanian, Managing Director & CEO, alongside senior leadership of Coromandel.
Launched in 2007 as a pioneering rural retail initiative under the “My Gromor” brand, the network has expanded into one of the country’s largest farmer-facing retail chains. Today, it spans five states with 766 ‘Mana Gromor’ stores in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, 195 ‘Namma Gromor’ in Karnataka, 23 ‘Namadu Gromor’ in Tamil Nadu, and 16 ‘Apla Gromor’ in Maharashtra, collectively serving more than 3 million farmers. With plans to double its network over the next two years, Coromandel is extending its reach far beyond the southern markets that seeded the brand’s growth.
Each Gromor outlet is designed as a one-stop destination, offering a comprehensive portfolio of agri-inputs—fertilizers, crop protection, biologicals, organics, cattle feed, and farm implements—supplemented by value-added services such as soil and carbon testing, agronomy support, drone spraying, and farmer-focused insurance. On average, every center caters to 1,000–1,500 farmers across 10–15 villages, supported by a dedicated field team of 5,000 personnel who provide extension services and on-ground expertise.
The physical network is reinforced by digital platforms such as the MyGromor app, which has crossed 1 million users and contributes 15 per cent of retail sales. The app delivers farm-specific advisories, image-based pest and disease detection, and transparent pricing, while enabling doorstep delivery and IoT-driven farm solutions. The 1000th store in Kashti will also function as a digital demonstration hub, showcasing remote advisory and precision farming tools to help farmers embrace sustainable, technology-led practices.
“The inauguration of our 1000th ‘My Gromor’ store is a proud milestone in Coromandel’s journey of serving and enabling India’s farmers,” said Arun Alagappan, Executive Chairman, Coromandel International. “From a modest beginning in 2007, Gromor has grown into one of the country’s largest agri-retail networks. These centers have become trusted partners for farmers—delivering quality inputs, personalized advisory, and environmentally responsible practices that boost productivity and improve livelihoods. Looking ahead, we aim to double our retail footprint, strengthen farmer connect, and create lasting value for rural communities.”
The new Apla Gromor store in the Kashti–Shrigonda belt not only strengthens Coromandel’s presence in Maharashtra but also signals a broader transformation—where agri-retail is evolving into a hub of innovation, digital integration, and farmer empowerment. With 20 more stores planned in Pune district, including five near Kashti, Coromandel is accelerating its strategy to shape the future of Indian agriculture through scale, technology, and sustainability.
