External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Maldivian Foreign Minister Abdulla Khaleel are set to review the progress of the India-Maldives comprehensive economic and maritime security partnership. Khaleel, accompanied by a high-level delegation, began a three-day visit to India on Sunday evening. This marks his third visit to India in 2025.
The partnership framework, formalized through a vision document signed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu in October last year, aims to deepen cooperation in economic and maritime security sectors.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) described Khaleel’s visit as a continuation of the “intensified high-level political exchanges” between the two countries. During his visit, Khaleel will lead the Maldives delegation at the second High Level Core Group (HLCG) meeting, which oversees the implementation of the vision document.
In addition, Khaleel will engage in bilateral talks with External Affairs Minister Jaishankar to further strengthen the bilateral relationship.
