Bayer rolls out Corn Festival in Rajasthan to enhance farmer incomes

Bayer is conducting a series of farmer workshops across Rajasthan as part of its Monsoon Corn Festival, aimed at promoting corn cultivation and empowering smallholder farmers. The initiative includes training on advanced agronomic practices, demonstrations of high-performing DEKALB corn hybrids, and guidance on sustainable farming techniques

Bayer, a global leader in healthcare and agriculture, has launched a series of farmer workshops across key districts in Rajasthan to spotlight the growing importance of corn as a vital crop for food, animal feed, and sustainable fuel. The initiative is part of Bayer’s ongoing efforts to support smallholder farmers with knowledge, innovation, and practical solutions to increase their productivity and income.

These farmer-centric roadshows will be conducted in villages across Baran, Jhalawar, Bundi, Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, and Pratapgarh districts—regions known for their agricultural potential. The workshops will include training on advanced crop management techniques, demonstrations of DEKALB hybrid corn varieties, and best practices for sustainable farming.

India’s corn sector, which supports millions of farmers and plays a crucial role in food security and rural development, is gaining prominence due to its versatility and adaptability to various agro-climatic conditions. Corn is used extensively in food products, animal feed, and industrial applications, making it a cornerstone of agricultural and economic growth.

“Through these workshops, Bayer aims to empower smallholder farmers with the tools and techniques needed to improve yields, reduce input costs, and build resilience in the face of climate and market challenges,” the company said in a statement.

This initiative aligns with Bayer’s global vision of “Health for all, Hunger for none”, reflecting the company’s commitment to delivering agricultural innovation that not only boosts productivity but also enhances nutrition and food availability for a growing population.

Continuing its commitment to support India’s smallholder farmers, Bayer has launched a series of interactive workshops across key districts in Rajasthan to promote corn cultivation and sustainable agriculture. These sessions are part of the company’s broader Monsoon Corn Festival, focused on improving farm productivity, enhancing soil health, and boosting rural incomes.

Held in Baran, Jhalawar, Bundi, Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, and Pratapgarh, the workshops feature live demonstrations of agronomic best practices, providing farmers with hands-on exposure to modern crop management techniques. The hyper-local roadshows aim to empower farmers with actionable knowledge while showcasing successful case studies from peers who have adopted DEKALB hybrid corn seeds to achieve higher yields.

Expert-led sessions will offer guidance on sustainable farming methods, soil health management, and efficient resource use—critical factors for long-term agricultural resilience. A key focus is on DEKALB’s Kharif corn hybrids, known for their adaptability, strong standability, and superior grain quality. With a starch content of 65–70 per cent and protein levels of 8–9 per cent, these hybrids are well-suited for use in ethanol production and the poultry feed industry, further enhancing their commercial value.

In a bid to drive digital engagement, Bayer has also introduced a QR code-based incentive program via its FarmRise app, allowing farmers to access personalized farming solutions and earn rewards for participation. This integration of tech-enabled support ensures continued access to knowledge and resources beyond the workshops.

“As part of our ‘Health for all, Hunger for none’ mission, we are committed to bringing innovative, sustainable, and scalable solutions to smallholder farmers across India,” said a Bayer spokesperson. “These workshops not only improve on-ground practices but also connect farmers to a larger support ecosystem.”

With corn’s rising importance as a multi-use crop for food, feed, and sustainable fuel, Bayer’s outreach aligns with national priorities around food security, rural development, and the circular bio-economy.
