The Indian delegation to the 15th BRICS Agriculture Ministers’ Meeting (AMM), which will take place in Brasilia, Brazil on April 17, is being led by Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
As per the announcement released by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, the 15th BRICS AMM will focus on “Promoting Inclusive and Sustainable Agriculture through Cooperation, Innovation, and Equitable Trade among BRICS Countries.”
The summit is anticipated to be attended by senior officials and agriculture ministers from BRICS nations, which include Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, Brazil, Russia, India, and China.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Chouhan will meet bilaterally with important Brazilian counterparts during the visit, such as Luiz Paulo Teixeira, Minister of Agrarian Development and Family Farming (MDA), and Carlos Henrique Baqueta Favaro, Minister of Agriculture and Livestock.
The goal of these sessions is to strengthen India-Brazil cooperation in agri-technology, food security, rural development, and agriculture.
In Sao Paulo, the minister will meet with officials of the Brazilian Association of Vegetable Oil Industries and leaders of significant Brazilian agribusiness firms to discuss potential collaboration and investment opportunities in the agricultural value chain.
During his visit, the Minister will also take part in a tree planting campaign at the Indian Embassy in Brasilia, which is part of the admirable “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” project, which honors mothers and raises awareness of environmental issues.
The Minister will also engage with Sao Paulo’s thriving Indian diaspora, recognizing their contributions to bilateral relations and their role as cultural ambassadors.
India’s commitment to strengthening ties with the BRICS countries and promoting South-South collaboration in agricultural innovation, resilience, and sustainability is reaffirmed by this visit.
