Garuda Aerospace has set a target of making one lakh ‘Made in India’ drones in the next two years

Kisan drones were recently launched at 100 places across the country from Manesar. Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the launch of the kisan drones said, “Till a few years back, a drone was considered to be technology related to the Army, or something used to combat enemies. Our thoughts used to be limited to that particular use only. But today we are inaugurating Kisan drone facilities in Manesar. This is a new chapter in the direction of the modern farming system of the 21st century.”

He added, “I am sure this launch will not only prove to be a milestone in the development of the drone sector but will also open endless doors of possibilities. I am also told that Garuda Aerospace has set a target of making one lakh ‘Made in India’ drones in the next two years. This will generate new jobs and new opportunities for several youngsters. I congratulate the team of Garuda Aerospace.”

Farmers can benefit as there is immediate trade settlement etc

In a move to enable digital access to a wider marketplace for farmers, agribazaar has opened new farmer and procurement centres in Dayra Kota, Tarela Bundi, Baran, Samraniya, Genta, Nahargarh, Dei, Nainwa and Karwar in Rajasthan.

The average warehousing capacity is 10,000 MT and 20 FPOs are part of the network that will trade wheat, mustard, soybean, paddy, maize and chana.

Farmers can benefit as there is immediate trade settlement, near to zero mandi expenses, payments within a few hours of trade settlement and direct price negotiation with the buyers, whereas millers have benefited as there is complete transparency on stock bought and the stock showed (reconciliation of kaccha parcha and physical stock), bidding from the buyer and not the purchaser and zero freight for storage of goods in a godown.

The move will help the agriculture industry thrive

The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) aims to create a separate directorate of agriculture engineering at least at the block level in every state, as it could help substantially reduce losses and boost farmers’ income. This was stated by SN Jha, ICAR’s Deputy Director General (Engineering).

Jha advised that the agriculture ministry persuade states to establish a separate agriculture engineering directorate. According to him, every state should appoint an agriculture engineer at the block level, or if that is not practicable, at the district level, to assist farmers in running agriculture machinery at the farm level smoothly, not only for crop production but also for crop processing and value-adding.

Citing examples of Tamil Nadu and Madhya Pradesh, where a separate directorate of agriculture engineering was established, Jha mentioned that such a move would help the agriculture industry thrive.

The objective of the study was to assess the efficacy of the BVT system in controlling the development of disease, and the yield of healthy berries after harvest

Bee Vectoring Technologies International announced the results of the 2021 Rutgers R&D trial in New Jersey to assess the efficacy of BVT’s proprietary Vectorite with CR-7 (Clonostachys rosea CR-7), applied with bee vectoring technology against blueberry anthracnose (Colletotrichum acutatum), the most damaging disease pathogen in eastern highbush blueberry production.

The trial was conducted by Rutgers University’s Specialty Crop Research and Extension Center and PE Marucci Blueberry Cranberry Research & Extension Center, a leading and grower-trusted research centre in the US Northeast, during the 2021 growing season. The objective of the study was to assess the efficacy of the BVT system in controlling the development of disease, and the yield of healthy berries after harvest, both critical measures for how long picked berries remain fresh.

Trial results showed BVT’s honeybee system and bio fungicide had an 8-27 per cent reduction in the disease. The BVT system alone reduced Anthracnose infection in postharvest berries by 27 per cent compared to the control crop (no spray) and 8 per cent compared to the grower standard application. The BVT system alone had better disease control than the current grower standard.

The trial also resulted in an 11-60 per cent greater yield of healthy berries at postharvest. When the BVT system was used alone, the trial had 11 per cent more healthy berries 10 days after harvest than a standard program, and 60 per cent more than the control crop, which used no protection products. In both cases, BVT’s biological fungicide CR-7 used alone showed higher biological efficacy than the conventional (chemical) fungicide programmes.

The objective of the study was to
