Godrej Agrovet’s ‘Disha’ paves way for new generation of women in agriculture

In collaboration with 1M1B Foundation and Ikka Learning Foundation, the programme nurtures talent, bridges skill gaps, and unlocks formal career pathways in the agri sector

In a significant step towards fostering inclusivity and strengthening the future of India’s agricultural ecosystem, Godrej Agrovet Ltd has unveiled Disha, a women-centric career accelerator programme, at the third edition of its Women in Agriculture Summit.

Envisioned as a transformative CSR initiative, Disha is crafted to empower women pursuing BSc Agriculture and allied disciplines by enhancing their employability and industry readiness. Designed as a campus-to-corporate finishing school, the programme offers a holistic blend of skill-building across sales acumen, communication finesse, professional preparedness, and confidence development—enabling participants to seamlessly transition from academic corridors to the dynamic landscape of formal agri careers.

The initiative is being implemented in partnership with 1M1B Foundation and Ikka Learning Foundation, underscoring the power of collaborative action in driving meaningful change.

Speaking on the occasion, Sunil Kataria, Managing Director and CEO, Godrej Agrovet, remarked:
“India’s agri and allied sectors stand at a defining inflection point, poised to drive sustainable growth, enhanced productivity, and rural prosperity. The cultivation of industry-ready talent will be instrumental in realising this vision. Through Disha, we are nurturing a new generation of skilled women professionals, equipped to contribute meaningfully to a sector that underpins the livelihoods of nearly half the nation.”

Pakzan Dastoor, Head – Sustainability and CSR, Godrej Industries Group, added:
“At Godrej Industries Group, inclusion is not merely an aspiration but a foundational principle that guides our growth. Disha is a testament to this commitment—opening pathways for women to enter the formal agri sector and access fulfilling career opportunities. This pilot initiative also highlights the strength of partnerships, with over 33 per cent of participants already securing roles across the agri industry, and many more poised to follow.”

Mallika Mutreja, CHRO, Godrej Agrovet, noted:
“Building an inclusive and future-ready workforce demands sustained investment across every stage of the talent journey. At Godrej Agrovet, we are committed to enabling women from early career entry through to leadership advancement. Initiatives like Disha, alongside our broader talent development efforts, reflect our endeavour to create meaningful career pathways and nurture a resilient workforce for the future.”

The summit further featured an engaging panel discussion that spotlighted the imperative for industry-wide collaboration in building a strong and sustainable pipeline of women talent in agriculture. Panellists emphasised the need for a cohesive approach spanning education, skilling, recruitment, and career progression to unlock the full potential of women in the formal agri economy.
