World class automated manufacturing facility to come up on over 1,25,714 sq. metres of land
Crystal Crop Protection Limited, one of India’s leading research-driven agrochemical companies, has announced a major expansion of its manufacturing footprint with the acquisition of over 1,25,714 sq. metres of land and assets from Kurl-On Ltd. at Jhagadia, Bharuch, Gujarat. The investment will support the development of a fully automated, world-class integrated greenfield manufacturing facility for agrochemical formulations and technical products.
The project entails a total investment of Rs 100 crore over three years and will have an initial production capacity of 50,000 metric tonnes per annum of agrochemical formulations. The facility has been designed with scalability in mind, allowing future expansion up to 1,20,000 metric tonnes per annum to meet rising domestic and global demand.
The upcoming Jhagadia plant will manufacture a broad portfolio of formulations, including herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides, catering to both the Indian market and expanding export opportunities across Asia and Africa. Products from Crystal’s established portfolio—such as Topper, Tilt, Proclaim, Missile, ACM 9, Amora, and Sikosa—will be produced at the facility.
Commenting on the development, Ankur Aggarwal, Executive Chairman and Managing Director, Crystal Crop Protection, said:
“At Crystal, our mission has always been to ensure a consistent supply of high-quality and innovative products to farmers and customers. The new world-class manufacturing facility at Jhagadia significantly strengthens that commitment. This investment marks an exciting new chapter for Crystal as we continue to build a globally competitive, future-ready organization focused on innovation and agricultural sustainability.”
Gujarat was selected for the investment due to its cost efficiency, regulatory predictability, robust supply chain ecosystem, and long-term growth potential, making it an optimal location for large-scale chemical manufacturing.
Kavishwar Kalambe, Whole-time Director and Vice President – Technical Manufacturing, added:
“The Jhagadia facility will contribute meaningfully to regional economic development by creating significant direct and indirect employment opportunities. Designed on Industry 4.0 principles and scalable to Industry 5.0, the plant will set new benchmarks in automation, efficiency, and sustainability.”
The project also benefits from Gujarat’s position as India’s most advanced chemical manufacturing and export hub, supported by world-class infrastructure, utilities, and port connectivity. Located in Jhagadia—one of India’s key chemical clusters—the facility will have seamless access to major ports including Dahej, Hazira, and JNPT, enabling efficient global distribution.
