Empowering women, growing agriculture: Godrej Agrovet’s new pact in Maharashtra

Three-year collaboration brings GAP and IPM to over 5,000 farmers and thousands of acres

Godrej Agrovet has signed a landmark agreement with the Maharashtra State Rural Livelihoods Mission (MSRLM) to empower over 5,000 women farmers across nine major cotton-growing districts in Maharashtra. The partnership will promote sustainable agricultural practices while strengthening livelihoods for rural women.

The three-year collaboration will focus on mobilizing Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and women farmers to adopt Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and Integrated Pest Management (IPM), fostering higher productivity and resilience.

In its first year, the program will operate in nine districts—Nagpur, Amravati, Yavatmal, Washim, Parbhani, Jalgaon, Beed, Akola, and Nanded—impacting over 5,000 women farmers, 50,000 acres of farmland, and engaging 100 SHGs per district. Over the three-year period, the initiative aims to scale up support to more than 5,000 SHGs across Maharashtra, with plans to expand beyond cotton to crops such as maize.

Under the MoU, Godrej Agrovet will fund and implement training workshops on GAP, IPM, and safety practices, establish farmer field schools and demonstration plots, and distribute safety kits. MSRLM will facilitate farmer mobilization and coordination through its SHG and Krishi Sakhi networks.

This partnership reflects a growing commitment to sustainable agriculture, women empowerment, and resilient rural livelihoods, aligning with Godrej Agrovet’s vision to create meaningful, scalable impact in India’s agricultural sector.
