Farmers battling recurring pest outbreaks now have a new ally in protecting their crops from borers and caterpillars. Tropical Agrosystem (India) Pvt. Ltd., India’s leading homegrown crop management company has rolled out TAG HIKIMA, a next-generation insecticide that delivers quick pest knockdown and long-lasting protection against major chewing and leaf-eating pests, including fruit borers, Spodoptera species, and other Lepidopteran caterpillars.
Lepidopteran caterpillars – the larval stage of moths and butterflies – are among the most harmful pests affecting various crops like chilly, cotton, tomato, brinjal, rice and maize. In chilly, fruit-borer infestations can lead to yield losses of up to 50 percent, while certain species of Spodoptera can cause defoliation in cotton, maize, and tomato.
TAG HIKIMA, a triple-combination formulation of Emamectin, Chlorantraniliprole and Deltamethrin, delivers a quick knockdown effect – pests stop feeding soon after contact – followed by long-lasting protection. High mortality has also been observed even in late-instar larvae, ensuring effective management of larval damage, including Spodoptera species.
The formulation provides strong protection during the flowering and fruiting stages, when crops are most vulnerable to insect attack, and contributes to higher yields through its phyto-tonic effect, which promotes overall plant growth and vitality.
TAG HIKIMA is registered on chilly, where it has shown excellent performance against fruit borer, a caterpillar pest that bores into fruit and flower buds causing yield loss. It has also demonstrated wide-ranging efficacy on Lepidopteran caterpillars across major commercial crops and displayed high potency against leaf folders in rice.
The new solution follows the successful launch of TAG FLY GOLD, a patented insecticide recognised for its long-lasting protection against Thrips, Whiteflies, Mites, and Fruit Borers. TAG FLY GOLD has been well received by farmers for its efficacy and multi-mode action.
TAG HIKIMA complements Tropical Agro’s growing crop-protection portfolio, which includes established brands like TAG Stem-Lee, TAG FLY GOLD, TAG Warrior Top, TAG Turbo Plus, Tropical Magik, Thril, and TAGMEC among others.
