KisanKraft empowers farmers with nationwide DDSR awareness drive across 10 states

The awareness drive is designed to empower rural farmers by equipping them with knowledge of sustainable, profitable, and eco-friendly rice cultivation methods.

Bengaluru based KisanKraft, a leading innovator in agricultural technology, announced the launch of a nationwide awareness and education campaign to promote its revolutionary Dry Direct Seeded Rice (DDSR) technology. The initiative will start from 10th October 2025 from Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh running until December 2025 across 10 states. The awareness drive is designed to empower rural farmers by equipping them with knowledge of sustainable, profitable, and eco-friendly rice cultivation methods.

“Direct Seeded Rice (DSR) is an alternative to traditional transplanting, grown entirely on non-puddled fields without standing water, making it more efficient and sustainable. This technology  saves more than 50 per cent of water because of no standing water and puddling, lowers input costs – reduces 60 per cent of seed rate, significant reduction in pesticides, fungicides and fertilizers usage, reduced fertilizer leaching losses,  maintains soil structure because of non-puddled field, improves soil health through crop rotation and inter cropping with any of the pulse crops,  mechanization is easier, reduces labour cost & labour drudgery and reduces greenhouse gas emissions- methane emission is almost null compared to wetland rice which emits 8-12 per cent of methane globally, also gives similar yields like transplanted rice to the farmers with more profits, making it a win-win for both farmers and the environment,” said  Ravindra Agrawal, Chairman, KisanKraft Limited. “At KisanKraft, we are committed to promoting DSR technology across India through awareness programs, field demonstrations of varieties developed by our R&D team with proper Package of Practices, and training so that farmers can confidently adopt this transformative practice,” he added.

Rice, India’s staple food, consumes an estimated 5,000 liters of water to produce just one kilogram. With water scarcity worsening across the country, KisanKraft’s DDSR offers a game-changing alternative that uses 50–60 per cent less water without compromising yield.

The awareness campaign will continue until December, covering major farming districts across Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Odisha. Through field demonstrations, farmer training programs, and interactive sessions, farmers will gain practical knowledge on package of practices like land preparation, sowing techniques, and weed management, pest and disease management etc for successful DDSR adoption.

KisanKraft’s DDSR varieties mature in 110–140 days, adapt to diverse soil conditions, and are geared toward ensuring “more crop per drop.” With this initiative, KisanKraft is driving a nationwide shift toward resilient and sustainable rice farming practices.
