Amul introduces Fresh Milk in Spain through collaboration with Cooperativa Ganadera del Valle de los Pedroches
The Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd (Amul) officially launched its fresh milk in Madrid and Barcelona, Spain, marking its debut in the European market. The launch event took place at the Embassy of India in Madrid, attended by Indian Ambassador Dinesh K Patnaik and Spanish Ministry of Agriculture officials.
Amul’s entry into Spain is enabled through a strategic partnership with Cooperativa Ganadera del Valle de los Pedroches (COVAP), a leading Spanish dairy cooperative based in Córdoba. The collaboration aims to expand Amul milk’s availability initially across major Spanish cities including Malaga, Valencia, Alicante, Seville, and Córdoba, followed by entry into Portugal’s Lisbon and other European countries such as Germany, Italy, and Switzerland.
Jayen Mehta, Managing Director of GCMMF, highlighted this milestone as the first time Amul fresh milk has entered Europe, aligning with India’s vision to position Amul as a global dairy brand. COVAP President Ricardo Delgado Vizcaíno expressed enthusiasm about combining COVAP’s advanced dairy technology with Amul’s international brand presence to benefit farmers in both countries.
Amul, India’s largest dairy brand with a turnover exceeding $ 11 billion, has already established a strong presence in the United States, available across over 35 states. This European expansion signifies a significant step in Amul’s global growth strategy.
