IFB Agro set to acquire Cargill India’s shrimp and fish feed business

The deal covers Cargill India’s production plants located in Vijayawada and Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh

IFB Agro Industries Ltd announced that its board has approved the acquisition of Cargill India’s entire commercial shrimp and freshwater fish feed business, a strategic step to strengthen its position in the aqua feed market.

The acquisition, structured as a slump sale, includes Cargill India’s manufacturing units in Vijayawada and Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh, along with feed formulations, business contracts, assets, liabilities, licenses, employees, and other related resources, according to a regulatory filing by IFB.

The deal, pending the signing of a definitive Business Transfer Agreement (BTA), is anticipated to be finalized by July 31, 2025.

Payment will be made in cash, with the exact amount to be revealed in the final agreement, IFB stated.

This acquisition supports IFB Agro’s strategy to expand its footprint in the aqua feed sector.

Established in 1996, Cargill India is a key player in the country’s animal nutrition industry, with operations spanning grain, oilseed, and food ingredient markets.
