Godrej Jersey expands Telangana footprint with Rs 150 Cr dairy processing facility

In a significant expansion of its agri-food portfolio, Creamline Dairy Products, a subsidiary of Godrej Agrovet and the company behind the Godrej Jersey brand, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Telangana to establish a state-of-the-art dairy processing facility. The agreement, formalised on the sidelines of the Telangana Rising Global Summit 2025, commits an investment of Rs 150 crore for a 40-acre plant that will anchor the next phase of value-added dairy growth in one of India’s most rapidly evolving food markets.

With this commitment, the Godrej Industries Group’s cumulative investment pipeline in Telangana now exceeds Rs 10,000 crore across housing, agro-processing, digital MSME solutions, and allied sectors, underscoring the state’s emergence as a strategic hub for diversified industrial expansion.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, senior government officials and the leadership of Godrej Industries Group, marking a deepening partnership built on shared priorities of agri-modernisation, industrial competitiveness and employment generation. Speaking at the signing, Chief Minister Reddy said Telangana’s policy stability and investor-first approach had positioned the state as a natural destination for long-horizon private sector investments, adding that the Godrej partnership would strengthen the state’s agro-processing backbone, expand rural linkages and create meaningful job opportunities.

Pirojsha Godrej, Executive Vice Chairperson of the Godrej Industries Group, noted that the agreement reflects a broader commitment to building high-impact infrastructure that supports both economic growth and social development. He highlighted the Group’s expanding footprint—from sustainable oil palm cultivation to urban housing and dairy innovation—as evidence of a collaborative public-private model designed to accelerate inclusive progress in Telangana.

Sunil Kataria, CEO and Managing Director of Godrej Agrovet, emphasised the strong double-digit growth in consumer demand for value-added dairy products in Telangana and across India, driven by rising health consciousness, protein awareness and the search for convenient, high-quality nutrition. He said the proposed facility would be central to producing the next generation of protein-rich, innovative dairy offerings while reinforcing Godrej Jersey’s nearly three-decade legacy in the sector.

The project is expected to generate more than 300 direct employment opportunities over the next three years, creating both skilled and semi-skilled jobs across processing, logistics and plant operations. Rakesh Swami, Group President – Corporate Affairs, added that Telangana remains one of India’s most dynamic investment destinations, with a governance approach that actively supports MSMEs, women entrepreneurs and agriculture-linked value chains. He said the partnership would deepen the Group’s commitment to building resilient rural ecosystems and delivering high-quality products and services tailored to the needs of the state’s citizens.

As Telangana accelerates its push to become a national leader in food processing and agri-innovation, the Godrej Jersey facility represents a pivotal investment that blends industrial scale with nutritional ambition—laying the foundation for a stronger, more diversified dairy economy in the years ahead.
