Montra Electric has signalled a major leap in India’s clean-mobility transition with the northern market debut of the Montra Electric E-27—India’s first ARAI-certified electric tractor—unveiled at EIMA Agrimach India 2025, one of the country’s most influential global platforms for farm mechanization. The launch positions the Murugappa Group’s clean-mobility brand at the forefront of India’s push toward sustainable, technology-driven agriculture.

Engineered for modern farming needs, the E-27 delivers 27 HP equivalent power and 90 Nm torque through a high-efficiency PMSM motor, supporting diverse operations such as ploughing, tilling, spraying and haulage. Available in both 2WD and 4WD configurations, it gives farmers the flexibility to match tractor performance to soil and terrain requirements. Its advanced 22.37 kWh LFP prismatic-cell battery pack offers a runtime of roughly 4.5 hours and charges fully in just 2.15 hours, bringing greater reliability and day-long field endurance.

The tractor’s ARAI certification reinforces its compliance with India’s most rigorous safety and performance standards. Features such as an 8F+2R side-shift transmission, dual-speed PTO (540 and 1000 rpm) and a 720-kg hydraulic lifting capacity allow the E-27 to deliver diesel-like capability—minus the emissions, fuel dependency and rising operating costs associated with conventional models.

The economic case for electrification is equally compelling. With no diesel usage and significantly lower maintenance requirements, the E-27 can cut operating costs by up to 70 per cent, translating into Rs 10 lakh in savings over five years, a substantial boost for farmer profitability. The tractor’s quieter operation and reduced vibration also improve comfort, reduce fatigue and contribute to long-term operator health—factors increasingly relevant for India’s large rural workforce.

The E-27 is now available across 17 dealerships in 10 states, with prices starting at Rs 10.75 lakh (ex-showroom).
