In a move that underscores its commitment to sustainable innovation, Tata Trusts has appointed Sanjeev Karpe, founder of the Konkan Bamboo and Cane Development Centre (KONBAC), as an Independent Expert to assess bamboo-based grant proposals across 14 Tata group trusts.
Karpe, a long-time champion of regenerative rural enterprise, brings over two decades of experience in turning bamboo into a tool for both climate resilience and livelihood generation. His work at KONBAC has helped tribal artisans scale traditional craftsmanship into green infrastructure, while also shaping policy conversations on the future of bio-based materials in India.
“It’s an honour to be associated with an institution of such distinguished legacy and commitment to nation-building,” Karpe said. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to advance sustainable development through bamboo-driven innovation.”
The appointment reflects Tata Trusts’ sharp focus on nature-positive solutions and inclusive growth—bridging local knowledge with systems-scale impact.
