At UPL Corp, sustainability is more than just a concept—it’s the driving force behind the company’s innovation. With a focus on helping farmers boost productivity while reducing their environmental footprint, UPL is continually developing new solutions to improve agricultural practices. One such advancement is L-Tek technology, designed to reduce reliance on herbicides like glufosinate without compromising performance
UPL Corp is raising the bar in sustainable agriculture with its latest innovation: L-Tek technology—a game-changing advancement in herbicide formulation. At the heart of this development is glufosinate, a proven and effective alternative to glyphosate. Traditionally formulated as a racemic mixture, glufosinate contains both l- and d-isomers. UPL Corp’s proprietary L-Tek process removes the less effective d-isomer, delivering the purest active ingredient (AI) on the market.
The result is a product that requires 45 per cent less volume compared to conventional glufosinate formulations, significantly reducing the environmental impact without compromising efficacy. For example, treating a 500-acre field would require just 92 gallons of L-Tek-powered product versus 168 gallons of standard glufosinate. Similarly, a 200-hectare application would use only 440 litres, down from 800.
Lifeline® Mega, UPL’s first commercial product to feature L-Tek technology, has launched in Paraguay, with broader rollout across Latin America expected soon.
As UPL Corp continues to lead with best-in-class manufacturing and a commitment to long-term sustainability, its L-Tek-powered solutions represent the next evolution in weed control—helping farmers protect their fields today while preserving them for the future.
