Jindal Rice Mills unveiled Nourifyme, a new range of fortified staples including rice, basmati rice, and wheat atta, aimed at enhancing everyday nutrition and supporting India’s national health goals. The launch took place at the Taj Chandigarh during the event “Unlocking Market Potential: Advancing Fortified Rice in Punjab.”
Hon’ble Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond, Chief Guest at the event, highlighted the government’s strong focus on food fortification to tackle hidden hunger and praised Jindal Rice Mills’ efforts to extend fortified foods to retail consumers.
“Nourifyme combines decades of milling expertise with science-backed fortification to deliver essential micronutrients like Iron, Folic Acid, Vitamin B12, Zinc, and Vitamin A—nutrients critical for combating anemia and malnutrition, especially among women and children,” said Vishal Gupta, Co-Founder of Jindal Rice Mills. Co-Founder Ankit Jindal added, “This launch is not just about products but a mission to bring better nutrition to every Indian kitchen.”
Experts like Dr Neena Malhotra of AIIMS New Delhi emphasized the urgent need for fortified staple foods, noting that despite supplementation programs, anemia remains widespread among women and children. She stressed the importance of incorporating fortified foods into daily diets to improve health outcomes on a large scale.
The event also highlighted a strong partnership with global nonprofit TechnoServe’s Millers for Nutrition – Asia program, supporting rice millers in adopting fortification best practices. Abhishek Shukla, Country Program Manager for Millers for Nutrition India, underscored the critical role of private sector innovation in addressing nutrition challenges.
Alongside Nourifyme, White Spoon Fortified Basmati Rice by Anand Agro Industries was also launched, fortified with multiple micronutrients to support community nutrition.
With plans to expand across northern and eastern India, Nourifyme aims to become a trusted brand in the fight against malnutrition, aligning closely with national objectives for a healthier India.
