Dairy giant Milma boosts farmer incentives amid Rs 4,327 Cr revenue surge

The increased payouts include milk price incentives, cattle feed subsidies, and support under various welfare schemes, reinforcing Milma’s commitment to strengthening the rural dairy economy

The Kerala Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (KCMMF), popularly known as Milma, has significantly ramped up its support to dairy farmers, increasing welfare payments and incentives by 79.29 per cent in FY 2024–25, following a record Rs 4,327 crore turnover—a boost attributed to improved sales of milk and dairy products across the state.

During the financial year, Milma’s three regional unions—Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, and Malabar—disbursed a combined Rs 225.57 crore to dairy farmers through milk price incentives, cattle feed subsidies, and other welfare schemes. This marks a substantial rise from the Rs 125.81 crore distributed the previous year.

Regional Highlights
Thiruvananthapuram Union reported a turnover of Rs1,269 crore, distributing Rs 58.39 crore (77.14 per cent of net profit) as benefits to farmers. Ernakulam Union posted a Rs 988.87 crore turnover, with Rs 65.59 crore (85.80 per cent of net profit) allocated to farmer support. Malabar Union, the largest contributor, recorded Rs1,622 crore in revenue and distributed Rs 89.64 crore, representing 97 per cent of its net profit. In addition, KCMMF’s directly operated enterprises reported a turnover of Rs 447 crore, and the federation provided Rs 11.95 crore in cattle feed subsidies during the year.

Commitment to Farmers
Milma has earned recognition for maintaining consistent procurement prices and adopting strategic initiatives that reinforce its position as a market leader in Kerala’s dairy industry. The latest financial performance and welfare disbursements reflect a strong and sustainable model of cooperative success.
