The government has decided to establish three new multi-state cooperative societies focused on key aspects of the dairy sector, including animal feed, dung management, and the circular use of dead cattle residues. Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, who chaired a meeting on sustainability and circularity in the cooperative dairy sector, emphasized the need to create a sustainable dairy ecosystem that promotes a circular economy.
“As we move towards White Revolution 2.0, our goal is not only to expand dairy cooperatives and enhance their efficiency but also to develop a sustainable ecosystem for dairy production,” Shah said.
According to an official statement, the three new societies will have distinct focuses:
First, society will concentrate on animal feed production, disease control, and artificial insemination.
Second, society will work on developing models for effective dung management.
Third, society will focus on promoting the circular use of dead cattle residues.
Shah also highlighted the importance of carbon credit benefits reaching farmers directly through scientific models, and he underscored the necessity for integrated cooperatives to help boost farmers’ incomes. “We must collectively progress from ‘Sustainability to Circularity’, which will be a multifaceted journey,” he added.
